Who are these people that complain about someone not being aggressive enough because he passes to open teammates when he's being double-teamed? And why would such an idiotic complaint warrant any attention?
I will say that he has taken a couple suspect shots per game this series (actually, I'm on record as saying that) But he still wins us games, so it doesn't bother me.
It's not about basketball with you two. It's about how emotionally attached you are to players. If you read through your emotional breakdown in the game thread you'd be embarrassed.
Here are some examples just from this last game. If Dame takes a back seat and doesn't shoot because the Clips aren't giving him open looks, he has more posts like this to look forward to.
OMG people who are emotionally attached to their favorite team!?!?! HOLY SHIT! That's NEVER happened before, and on the official forum of the Blazers!?!?! NO WAY! And I've said it before. I post pretty much everything that I'm feeling/seeing in the game thread. I do the same thing with the Ducks. It's cathartic. It annoys some people. I don't care. Deal with it.
He has earned the fucking right to take a few bad shots to see if he can get himself going. We wouldn't be here without him. People need to get off his nuts. We're WINNING THE SERIES RIGHT NOW. Good god some people are never happy.
You know what I find funny? Those who think they are level headed and don't get emo and say some of us take this too serious, are also the ones that seem to hold the grudges to the bitter end and cant get over things. If im taking it way to serious, then how am I able to be cool with those 'Ive had issues with in the past, but some others are unable to do the same? Who's taking it too serious now? Funny as hell
Ah--the game thread. Such a bastion of reason and logic. I thought we were talking about people intelligently analyzing performance after-the-fact, not people emotionally reacting in the moment. Yeah--I couldn't care less about what people say in the game thread. I guessing Dame would agree.
And they like to throw in personal attacks at the end of their posts if you disagree with them. I might disagree with you on some things Orion, and we will argue, but I don't call you names or attack you personally. I'll just argue with you until the bitter end. And I'm an arrogant, condescending asshole.
But it's indicative of the mindset. He can sit back and be a decoy and people will accuse him of being passive and/or asleep, or he can be aggressive and proactive and people will accuse him of taking bad shots. The dude simply isn't going to get a lot of good shots in this series. Not with the way LAC is defending him. I'm fine with him taking 15-20 shots per game, even if some of them are not necessarily great shots.
And that's your opinion, to which you're welcome. My opinion is that a team is generally better off when players pass out of double teams to get better shots for their teammates. Either opinion has validity, don't you think? I wonder though, since you clearly want him to shoot for volume regardless of the defense, and also criticize those who seem to agree and complain when Dame isn't playing aggressively, is there a manner in which Lillard could play that you would deem worthy of critique?
He HAS been passing, but those passes are going to Plumlee and then Plumlee finds the open man. Someone brought up Dame taking a rushed three and then that leading to a breakaway dunk. That happened like... two times last night. I guess I just don't see how that's such a big deal.
