We never heard Steve Blake use the N word on any of his raps!

For hundreds of years white people used the "N" word to make black people uncomfortable....some still do...at some pt after the Civil Rights movement of the 60s...black people took the word back and owned it which ironically makes white people uncomfortable today. Karma is a bitch. Lots of rap lyrics make me uncomfortable like bitch, ho, etc...references to street violence. I don't listen to rap or buy rap records for the same reason I don't buy Grand Theft Auto video games....it's out of my lane. I believe in the right to choose so I make choices about what I consume...I understand where these things come from but rap is like Chinese Opera to me....not something that I find entertaining. I'd rather read Maya Angelou or Langston Hughes. Choices.

Both my parents grew up Catholic. In devoutly Catholic homes. My dad has 5 siblings my mom has 7 siblings. Not a single kid is currently a Catholic on either side.

My wife grew up in a strong Catholic household and went to Catholic school in North Portland from 1st-12th. She has a strong disdain for anything that has to do with organized religion.

Somewhere along the way, the Catholic religion has really fucked up.

We used to go to mass growing up on Christmas Eve and Easter. Church seemed clique-ey. My dad would walk around shaking hands and saying hi to people of his childhood.

    I’ll never understand organized religion

Same here (minus the growing up in a catholic household, etc). I've never understand nor will I understand, the pull behind being in a cult.

Pfffft. She probably secretly drinks 5 bottles of wine a day and then picks up her kids at school but it’s perfectly acceptable in her mind because she’s a cookie cutter Christian

Oh man, I want to know how that ends. That lady is exactly whats wrong with our country. And I am willing to bet you the house that I don't own, that I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt, who she voted for.

It's hilarious how racist people will always project....er, I mean, accuse others of being racist.

That stupid cow didn't realize that she was being recorded. I hope she gets what she fucking deserves.

"they're filming me because I'm white and they're racist against white people!!!!"

Not trying to get a religious argument going. I was just trying to use an example of why I'm okay with certain groups using certain terms with each other. It's a shared experience. A "bond" if you will. As far as the "organized" part of it goes, I took what worked and ignored the bullshit. And came away with some good stuff. When I attend services, I attend on my terms and those of my maker. Fuck everyone else's opinion. I too don't have a great deal of love for organized religion, but I acknowledge that there are some I actually respect, because they are sincere and do good things. But then, I'm not a big joiner in much of anything (other than the SC2 Clown Posse of course). But some people need to be a part of something they consider bigger than themselves, and regardless of how I might feel, they have every right to pursue what works for them so long as they don't foist it on me. Unfortunately, too many religious conservatives try to do just that and DO want to force their views on the rest of the country. Screw them too. I'll just keep on doing what works for me.........

I can agree with this. Unfortunately my interactions with the deeply religious (other than my amazing grandmas who have passed by I still adore) is that religious are some of the most judgmental and holier than thou that I have ever met

For the most part it's a religion built around hypocrisy.

A lot of the shit they say about gay people or abortion would 100% not be something that Jesus would ever have supported.

Here's my feeling.... is it possible there's something bigger than us and beyond what we can know? Sure. It's definitely possible.

It's definitely not something crafted by man. People have been using religion to control the masses for thousands of years. I don't trust anything that has passed through the hands of other people. It's corrupt and evil. It's hilarious that people are STILL creating religions like Scientology and people are STILL falling for it.

Yeah I agree. But lately I think QAnon and other conservative freaks have one upped religion. But they’re all kind of one in the same really.
