FAMS! I love it, a game thread. Sorry I wasn’t posting here, just savoring the evening. One of the most memorable nights of my life. My daughter didn’t score a goal or have an assist, but her and my wife and I have never been happier. She just isn’t back at 100% yet, but it didn’t even matter. What a night! I left my hotel room in Houston at 5am and landed in Portland at noon. Walked in the front door and surprised the girls. What a game!!!!
In 2016, 9 of these girls won the state championship for their age group…. and last night won the 6A high school state championship. The other two…… they won a 3A championship with Catlin Gable! That’s a lot talent to come out of a 40 square block neighborhood! Proud of these kids!
Congrats to her and her teammates. And the proud parents of them. State title is just like any other title, hard fought and can go any way. Any championship is earned. Imagine winning the World Cup… Individuals who dedicate their life to the sport and it comes down to a goal in the final minutes of overtime in an extremely hard fought match which the team had to win X games against quality clubs to play in. Well said brother. Amazing thing, last two games of playoffs she played against teammates on her club team! It was a battle, but then and is parents hugged it out in the field after! Never forget this one FAMS.
Journey is nowhere complete FAMS. Now that college soccer is over, the schools interested in her are back in the recruiting trail after their break for their season…. All 3 reached out congratulating her, and said they will be at her practices coming up and a HUGE college showcase first week of December. Hoping to have her choice for school locked down by late winter. She’s only a junior, but would like to get all this recruiting stress out of the way. I’ll keep ya updated.
