@crandc while dropping our daughter off at school we found a great little neighborhood across Golden Gate Park from campus called Cole Valley….. what a fantastic little area. Very excited for her to spend some study time over there in a coffee shop.
Zazie’s and Bambino’s are two of the best restaurants there and there’s a really good ice cream shop there.
Friendly Exhibition match against Saint Marys University. First time ever coming off the bench and she said she had a blast! No assists or goals, but gained a bunch of experience! Let’s go!!!
For you soccer heads, she has always played the 7 or 11, her whole career. People always said she'd be great at the 10 though. A point guard on the pitch in a way. So after a few days of camp, she texts me that she has a NEW position, the 10! She seemed VERY excited about this. Even though she said she was getting lost out there and didn't know where to go, HA! When recruiting her, a few schools said they could see her thriving at the 10, never put much into it. But as camp is now over and the regular season kicks off this Thursday against the mighty Oregon State Beavers, looks like she is the back up 10 and 7....behind the teams two best players. In this dad's eyes, unfortunately short term, but night be good for her long term? She said the older girls are all being really cool and complimenting her and critiquing as well. Gotta love that right? She is early to training and does all the rehab stuff like ice baths and yoga without being asked. Coaches said she is leading by example and they don't see that very often from a freshman. Head coach used to coach at UCLA and USC, so that means a lot coming from him. First true exhibition last week she got about 45 minutes out there. Looked a bit lost in the fog, but couldn't be more proud. Interesting seeing her not be the star of the team from day 1..... Not sure how it all translates to her making the travel squad. They only take 22.....we'll see. Sorry to go on and on.... just pumped it's all coming together (knock on wood). Bring on the Beavs FAMS!
Meanwhile, time to start fundraising!! https://www.oregonlive.com/highschoolsports/2023/08/grant-bowl-deemed-unsafe-for-organized-use.html
Yes, a very large hit to the athletic program. That bowl means everything. Cool thing about it, it is used by the neighborhood as much as the school. packed 365 days a year. Most likely the reason it has worn down so much. Ndomkong Suh field. He and NIKE paid for it….. unfortunately all the fall teams will have to practice off campus. Sucks man.
Hey this happened this morning. Kinda big for us being able to watch my daughter play. https://x.com/donsathletics/status/1691486033270263808?s=61&t=Jx6PD30s90F0eRLalfm9Gw
Going to be able to at least watch her on ESPN+ instead of chasing around trying to find it on school websites. Very happy about this.
Honestly is there a reason? This must have been the first time I’ve tried to share a tweet on here since the change. Do we really know why though?
My guess is that it changes all of the default paths and URLs S2 is looking for from "twitter“ to "x". Change any of those by even a space or single wrong character and you get no magic.
