It is? I have read some posts on this very forum that declared LMA as having the right equipment for the job! Anyway, good for him.
Bah. He didn't have a kid, he's LaMarshmellow, man who is afraid of contract and didn't want to improve his game by participating in the USA team practices!
I sure hope he was working on his left hand touch. LMA was getting so predictable when he tried to post up. He could not turn to his left hand, and if he tried, he had to shoot the ball right handed. I sure like the idea of him improving his driving and face-up game.
I loved watching Bayno work with the post players. He'd bust out these big glove type things and start beating on the players while they post up. Canales use to use them too. They look effective.
ZBo had a career year after working with Bayno. Oden looked magnificent as well before he went down after working with Bayno. This could be a very good thing for LMA.
When was this? He has always looked about the same weight to me. I'm just glad to hear he is really working on the post moves. The guy really could be great if he wanted to.
I agree that there's not much point in having a lot of speed in your PF on our team. We just don't run. And really, we shouldn't much. Not with so much of our offense projected to come through Roy and Oden. I'd love to see Aldridge add on some muscle so he can rebound better and be more aggressive in drawing fouls on the offensive end. His weakness in post defense seems to me to be more related to poor positioning. Rasheed never had much muscle, but was a great post defender because he always had his feet and his arms in the right place.
I believe it was two seasons ago. He only added around 15-20 pounds. I remember mike and mike saying he dropped most of the weight because he thought it made him feel sluggish. It was around the same time that it came out that he had some kind of an eating disorder and was a ballerina when he was younger.
I'm in favour of Aldridge adding more muscle, so long as he remains a super athlete. I love that he can jump out even on a perimeter player and defend that player for at least a short time. I like that kind of defensive versatility.
Can any one explain to me why Nate wants his players lean and long when he doesn't let this team run and gun? Big and strong would seem to make more sense on this non identifiable slow paced half court offense!
Because Nate wants it both ways. On defense, he wants a team where the center can switch and guard the PG at the 3-point line. On offense, he either doesn't want, or can't decide how to use, that sort of mobility and versatility from his big men. In a way, Camby is the perfect big man for Nate, as he has good length and mobility on defense, but is willing to just stay out of the way on offense.
All this off season talk has me boning. I like an under the radar Blazers over and on the radar Blazers. Know what I'm sayin'? It's not like this team can't fuck someone up when healthy. Yep, I said "healthy."
I don't care how much he weighs as long as someone teaches him to... Establish Low Post Position! He has not been able to do that regularly.
