True. But the arena name is more of a local branding opportunity than the jersey logo is in my opinion. I think I mentioned it in a previous post, but there are several examples of other local companies sponsoring arenas and stadiums. Moda was also a unique situation. They had to make a bold move to get their name some awareness quickly after changing the name from ODS Health. It worked.
...not just logos, Nike is now adding a "jock tag" to souvenir jerseys that you can scan with your smartphone to watch recent highlights of that player and other offers! Sounds like NikeConnect is going to be quite the gimmick, but will it actually work? And gain popularity?
How much does Moda pay per year for making rights, $5M? I feel like a 5% tax on each ticket would make up for that. Would y'all pay that to get the name changed back?
If we get Carmelo, that should help get us a jersey logo sponsor because we'd get more national/global media coverage.
