Boston = Portland + loads of draft picks. They have a lot of VERY good players, but are looking for STARS - Love qualifies. They have interest.
The pundits when they said he was the best PF in the league. The Cavs when they traded for him. People now that want him.
I wonder if Clevelands gonna make a deal with Boston if we could deal anything to make it a 3way and poach Olynyk and/or Bradley.
I got no love for Love. He is weak. Not mentally tough. Rather keep Leonard who is almost the same thing.
Except Boston is looking for their star. We have ours. Huge difference. I somehow didn't read the second line of your post. D'Oh! Carry on. Ignore me.
I've heard 20 players will get near max money and another 40 will get more then $10M. There's not that much money out there
Wager? I say he signs a contract for no more than an average of 10 mill a year. If he signs a 2 year contract and the first pays 15 and the second 5, that's still ten a year. IF you think he will get more, lets make a wager. I think he shot himself in the foot with regards to the big contract. I see him going for a 4 year 38 mill contract. with a team option on the fourth.
I think the perception that he is a star is killing him. He is getting roasted on the national sports radio shows. And has been for a while. He is a really good role player IMO, but a star? That status might be fading.
I saw people on the Realgm trade board talking about Love to Portland for Plumlee plus a re-signed Crabbe or Aminu, then turning around and bringing in Dwight/Whiteside to be center after having some other teams absorb some other players, is that even possible?
Yep. Takes some coordination though. Step 1 is sign Whiteside. Step 2, sign remaining FA as desired. Step 3, complete the trade. Love makes $21.5M next year. Blazers would then be over the cap, so they would be required to send out a minimum of $16.5M in salary (outgoing + $5M per CBA requirements) to make the trade legal. This means, Crabbe would have to be signed to at least a $14.2M ($16.5M - $2.3M for Plumlee) contract or $9.0M ($16.5M - $7.5M for Aminu) contract.
But would it beat GSW? I'm losing all confidence in Love ever being part of a championship team in this current BB style of small ball that is the frenzy of the era. He has been exposed much like Meyers. But Meyers D is marginally better already and I think Leonard can shoot the three as well as Love. I'm sorry I see it a complete backwards step if we go take on Love at 21.5 mill. We can have virtually the same thing for 10-12 in Leonard.
Wouldn't they have to wait until December 15th to trade a FA like Crabbe? And if it was a sign and trade....can you include extra players like Plumlee or Crabbe? or is it one for one?
I think Leonard's D is better against centers, but not forwards. Neither can guard spread 4's. Positives for Love....he is still very fundamentally sound on offense. He sets solid screens , boxes out well for rebounds, great with outlet passes and can score down low.... in the right offense. Start him with Harkless, Davis, CJ and Dame........then we would have Plums, Crabbe, and Aminu off the bench. if we could help Cleveland by taking his salary...then I would consider it. But I would not give up too much to get him.
I'm just not that high on Meyers, while the Timberpups sucked, Meyers has never done what Love did there. If he got back into an offense like ours I think Love would look like a near all star level player again. His defense is absolutely dreadful though so we would need a good defensive center.
