Re: Lord help us Seems like a very even-handed piece. Regarding Perry, I heard a good line today: "Rick Perry is George Bush without all the brains". barfo
Re: Lord help us Yes, I'm sure it seemed that way to you. I bet you thought this part was especially even-handed . . . There's a lot of stories out there about Rick Perry right now, and they all strike me as very even-handed. Amazingly, the mainstream media seems to have no axe to grind at all!
Re: Lord help us I think that's a fair statement, yes, as is her conclusion that no governor has tremendous control over the economy. barfo
Re: Lord help us Uh, huh. Rick Perry has been governor of Texas for almost 11 years, and yet, according to the above author, he's had nothing to do with the success of the Texas economy. It's really just a coincidence that Texas has done so well while he's been in office. I love this board. You learn so much here . . .
Re: Lord help us You didn't read it very carefully. It gives him credit for pro-business policies. It does point out, correctly, that there are many other factors involved other than government policy. So is Perry your boy in 2012? barfo
Re: Lord help us It's amusing that you consider Megan McArdle to be part of the evil mainstream media. It's amusing that I'm defending her. barfo
Re: Lord help us I read it carefully, and I saw the "credit" given to him. I also saw that 98% of the article is an effort to expose Perry as merely a figurehead. I find it astounding that the press can attack a guy like Perry who has been successfully running a state like Texas for over a decade, and yet have no problem with a candidate like Obama, who never ran a state, a city, or even a county for 2 minutes. The double-standard is breathtaking. I'm still considering . . . I think Chris Christie would be an interesting candidate.
Re: Lord help us Which, of course, he is. As is any governor. Pretty sure Megan McArdle is no fan of Obama. I do too. The fact that New Jersey just got downgraded itself would seem to make his candidacy less likely, however. barfo
Re: Lord help us isn't Christie the one who flew to his sons baseball game, and then had a limo drive him 300 feet to the game or something? Sounds like he's a perfect candidate for president. A candidate whose party (and followers) can just ignore they bitched about something their own guy does.
Re: Lord help us Hard to say. It may have been the quickest way to get him to the game(s), then back to work.
Re: Lord help us .....as opposed to simply being a lame copout...as pointed out by julius. Glad you're taking note, though.
Re: Lord help us Then, you're right. He's a big, fat slob who has no business running for President...especially in light of his incessant criticisms of big (no pun intended) government spending.
Re: Lord help us Gotta love the responses. LOL http://www.theblaze.com/stories/out...lice-helicopter-to-get-to-sons-baseball-game/
Re: Lord help us most people who run for president have no business running. Some of them even get elected too. including a couple in the last 40 years.
Re: Lord help us This guy is pretty scary... One of the few things to be thankful to Bush for -- this guy won't get elected. Seven Ways Perry Wants to Change the Constitution The Tea Party is all about upholding the Constitution, so I'm sure they will be very Anti-Perry.
