Last year they played better defense and they moved the ball better. Hate to rain on the parade, but this is getting ridiculous.
This season twice as many players on the roster are playing defense...big difference..ball movement develops with chemistry...the starting core last year had years of it...this year..a few months..not a fair comparison. Our starters last season (when healthy) played better defense than our starters this season, I'll give you that.
Love how exciting this team is as well. WAY more fun to watch then those pre LA/BROY teams, that's for sure!
Uh, no. Last year our main play was getting it to Aldridge and watching him back down his man. I will have visions of Lilliard bringing it down and throwing it to Aldridge on the left block for the rest of my life. They must have run that play a million times.
I haven't looked at the sched, but I will say this: We are playing high level ball right now (including the Toronto game). If we continue to play this way, we'll win way more than 7. However, it is very possible that we regress, and another 5 game losing streak is not out of the question.
We are playing well right now, I agree. I just think the upcoming schedule will be too much for Dame and CJ to carry us thru.
Dame and CJ haven't carried us. Through 12/3, we basically couldn't win without Dame/CJ scoring 45+ (8-1 when they had 45, 0-11 when they didn't). Since that point, the majority of our wins have those two at below 45. We're better when we're more balanced.
Its not just those two anymore though.... Exactly. Aminu is hitting his threes again, Crabbe has come into his own. Henderson has embraced coming off the bench. We are way better all around than we were prior to the xmas break and CJ and Dame have been far from carrying us in the last handful of games. Yes they are still getting points and assists, but the points are down a bit and the assists are up a bit. I wouldnt want it any other way and is also a positive to being able to beat more teams that we wouldnt be able to earlier on.
let not forget about the dynasty we could of had. if walton never got hurt we would have probably won every champ from 77-81. then if we drafted michael jordan and sabonis came over in 87. we would probably have won every champ in the 90s. then if we drafted kevin durant and b-roy never got hurt we would probably won every champ since 09. total that up we would had 21 or 22 at the minimum champ already. if this franchise never got cursed on we wouldn't be complaining about small market, rainy oregon and never getting big time FA.
Still lovin' this team! I'm not sure last year's version of the Blazers would have gotten these last two road wins. You can see these guys getting better game by game.
