    According to this :http://www.shamsports.com/capulator

If we renounce Ed/Pat/Shabazz, and Nurk either takes the QO or is renounced, we open up the non-taxpayer MLE of 8mil/yr

thanks for that, renouncing Ed/Pat/Bazz seems likely anyway and is not hard to do, and depending upon what Nurk demands/wants it could get interesting

The timing as well will be important. If Nurk takes his time going to teams to see what he can get, we might miss out on an FA that we could possibly land with the full MLE.

What we need to happen to max our assets/cap is to:

    1. renounce all non-Nurk FAs
    2.have Nurk take the QO
    3. use our full MLE on someone like Tyreke Evans/ Rudy Gay
    4. then use our AC TPE

    Think I have that right.

if the money was "close" I'd much rather have Favors, however my guess is Ed does not get very much in a low amount of money available saturated Pf/C environment

If we use the non-tax MLE, we'd be capped right at the apron, which, depending on where Tyreke salary puts us, likely means we can not use the TPE.

They are complimentary players. Collins developing does note correlate with him being Nurk's replacement.

At this point, he's close enough to equally good at both positions, it's pretty much a wild guess... Let him play on the perimeter against the Dirk/Gasol types, and move him to Center against teams with a wing-oriented PF like you listed. Of course, Stotts would have to go or have a change in outlook, because he's too inflexible to shuffle lineups for situational advantages...

People say all sorts of stuff that they don't mean or follow through on. I believe what I see. Collins played almost exclusively on the perimeter last year, something he said (oops) was a big adjustment. Obviously, he was being pushed that direction by the coaching staff.

And this is why I'm glad you're not GM.

Favors and Davis are basically polar opposites.

One exemplifies toughness and the other is soft as Charmin.

Sounds like they will try and make a reasonable offer to him now, but if he doesn't take it then we do this again next year.

Jokic's contract gonna be a problem in determining "what's reasonable." :(

MAX money? Sure. Let him walk in that case but another team has to give him MAX. We have right to match. No team is giving him MAX this off-season. We are going to get Nurkic for a bargain because of the climate around the NBA right now.

I'd be okay letting Jokic walk if he wants Jokic money. His contract is bigger than Dame's.

Jokic is a borderline top 10 player. He put up a season averaging 19/11/6 from the Center position with a 25 PER, while shooting nearly 40% from 3 on nearly 4 attempts a game. And he's only 22. He's criminally underrated in general NBA circles.

Nurk... isn't. Think he realizes this.

Maybe up front, but I will assume Nurk gets no big offers this year as an RFA and by next year he will see what reality is. I like him at a reasonable price, but he isn't irreplaceable and I'm not totally convinced the Blazers wouldn't be better off developing Collins at C.
