I'm growing tired of Terry's rotations and lack of defensive adjustments. The Warriors are the new Spurs in the sense that assistants in the front office and on the bench will usually (not always) move on and continue to progress with their new team.

I'd roll the dice on Luke. Hell, it would be sweet if Dollar Bill became a regular at the RG as well!

One year out of four, compared to nine years out of ten.

But if Luke Walton isn't one of the top 3 coaches in the NBA then how can you explain the nickname "The Splash Brothers"?

Scott and Bryant are already doing that.

I've got $20 saying that the Kobe retires, the Lakers fire Scott, and hire Walton for a fat salary. People will bump this thread and be like "would you still want him for this much". Then for the next 3+ seasons the Lakers are a fringe playoff team and if they make it they get knocked out because he can't make adjustments.

Just to be clear I always hate how little credit coaches get. Like people will cheer the players, then the coach is announced and only like 1/4 or less of the group cheers for the coach. The thing is though that this warrior team is extremely deep in talent (Iggy is like a 6th option there...Andre Iguodala.), a lot of them have a few years of legit experience between each other under their belt, and they have a born champion as a coach in Steve Kerr. If you wan't to talk coaching, talk Steve Kerr. Walton is a quick study, he knows the system and how to make adjustments within it (pretty easy when you get to pick from like 5 of the 10 best roll players in the league), but he's basically working with what the players, and Kerr have given him.

Nah, I think Kobe really is going to retire after this season.

Man I didn't even think this deep. Leave it to jlprk to be the one to go there. This is spot on though...

    Here's the details:
    1. West joins the Warriors board of executives in 2011
    2. 2011 the Warriors Draft Klay Thompson(11th overall). They trade for Brandon Rush(Who was drafted by us after we traded up 2 picks with Indiana to get Jerryd Bayless)... 3/15
    3. 2012 the Warriors Harrison Barnes (7th Overall) Draymond Green(35th overall) and Festus Ezeli(30th overall). They also trade for Andrew Bogut. 7/15
    4. 2013 the Warriors hold no draft picks. They sign Andre Igoudala (trading Rush who they would bring back the next season) which I believe is that finally pushed them over the top.
    5. 2014 the Warriors hold no draft picks. They sign Barbosa (Criminally underrated veteran role player) and sign Steve Kerr to be the head coach.
Once you know you've got enough talent in a core of 4-5 guys, play team basketball, and can sign high level role players in the off-season, then I guess you can afford to sit out of the draft for 2 years. I mean we would still have a 2nd round draft pick, which is still extremely valuable...We've all heard the names of those late draft picks who everyone wishes they hadn't passed up.

Always wondered why Paul Allen didn't ever hire West in at least an advisory role. Smartest thing Buss ever did (other than bang high class models) was hire him to run the Lakers.

Don't give Buss credit for West. Before Buss bought the team in 1979, West had been Laker head coach for 3 years (no slouch...1976-79 record: .589) and then stayed with the organization as King-in-Waiting while Buss and GM Bill Sharman blundered through Coaches McKinney and Westhead. With the Laker bias for hiring famed Laker names, it was inevitable that West would become GM in 1982.

So, West gets credit for Riley, even though West was an assistant coach at the time that Riley was hired?
