If the Magic are delaying their coach search to make a play for Tom Thibodeau, they’ve heard mostly good news (from their perspective) about Thibodeau’s relationship with the Bulls. But that’s not all it will take to lure Thibodeau to Orlando, even if he’s interested. Apparently, the Magic are willing to do the rest. Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders: Sources close to the situation say not only would the Magic give the Bulls compensation (likely a second-round pick or two) for the chance to get at Thibodeau, sources also said the Magic would meet the expected $7-8 million per year coaching salary Thibodeau likely commands in his next deal. The Nets got two second-rounders from the Bucks for Jason Kidd. The Celtics got a first-rounder from the Clippers for Doc Rivers. The Heat got a second rounder and the right to swap lottery-protected first-rounders (or another second rounder/other compensation) from the Magic for Stan Van Gundy. Multiple jobs are currently open—New Orleans, Orlando, and Denver—and Thibodeau would be one of the most sought-after (and highest-priced) candidates if he winds up entering the job market thanks to his reputation as a hard-charging defensive innovator with consistent postseason success.

Of those 396 games, Derrick Rose missed 213. "I know the decision is not my decision," Rose said, "but if it was up to me, he'd be back." "All I basically know is Thibs -- his philosophy, his style of coaching -- so, of course, I want him to stay," Gibson said. "Look at our record. Look at how players have grown over the years through all the ups and downs. You've got to give him a lot of pats on the back for that."

Understanding how important every regular season game is.” “Thibs is a hard worker, somebody who’s always had us prepared,” Noah said. “Right now we don’t know what the situation is, anybody. [We have] a lot of great memories … it’s not my decision.”
If Thibs stays, changes to the team needs to be made. We are fairly old. We need younger, athletic players.
If Thibs goes, they really should trade just about everyone and start from scratch. GarPaxDorf's vision of Hinrich backing up Jimmy is not going to make any coach look good. And how about that SF position? Didn't work out at all as GarPaxDorf envisioned. We need new vision. Note Kirk's 6.8 PER. He was signed to be our backup SG.
