I believe Brad Stephens indicated the arm injury had healed and he was ready for camp before the trade discussions. Reigning 6 MoY.
They're not going through all that trouble only to trade him. At guard, 2023 nba sixth man of the year, wearing number 13, Malcolm Brogdon!!
What about a three way with the Clips and Philly where we send Brogdon to PHI, LAC sends RoCo to PHI, Harden goes to LAC, we take Nico and Mann, a 1st from LAC and PHI? We then put Mann (2 years, $21MM remaining) on the block and eat Nico's expiring deal? Philly is done with Harden, get their PG and some cap relief, the Clips land Harden and we get two more 1st rounders. RoCo and Mann could be interchanged. We could also take Morris. The Clips could also send 2nd rounders out to sweeten the pot.
I’m guessing teams are offering 2nd(s) rn for Brogdon. And Joe understandably wants a first. I don’t think Morey thinks he needs to attach anything to ‘star’ James Harden.
I take it Brogdon is asked to stay put with gift cards to Sammy's Clam Chowda House, while Cronin works to drop ship him to complete the trifecta trade. Performing a holding pattern like Sentinel Guards.
Sounds right. I looked at all the teams who potentially would be interested in Malcolm and I couldn't find anything that worked for both teams salary-wise without taking back numerous players. Maybe Batum and Terrance Mann, but not a lot of other options. By Mid December I assume it will start to get better.
We could get a year of service from him, then deal him next year, unless some team throws a lot at us at the trade deadline. He'd be a great addition to our stable of guards.
Here's the scene in Philly: https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nb...-the-rest-of-the-east-gets-better/ar-AA1hzAvE Harden at this point is becoming a liability to the Sixers. If we can take advantage, so much the better.
https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nb...tinations-that-make-sense/ss-AA1hylIc#image=1 Low first-rounders or a load of second-rounders and cap filler seems to be the assumed price. I don't think that price goes down if he's healthy with us. We can be patient on this one.
They may not be getting good offers because of health questions so may need to play him for a month to show he's OK and still a baller.
https://hoopshype.com/lists/malcolm-brogdon-six-trade-destinations-that-make-sense/ This seems to think that teams we KNOW have first round picks available (Miami, Houston) only have second-rounders. First rounder or bust! I'm sort of intrigued by Houston, although we'd kind of sully ourselves trading for Porter Jr., even if he never even gets on a plane to Portland. Picks that Houston has:
I actually didn't think about this before, but you may be right. Blazers couldn't have had Dame or Jrue sit home because of NBA new resting policy for stars. But Brogdon can sit home, as the policy doesn't apply to him. It's only for recent multi-time allstar or all NBA players. That said I'd think if a trade isn't don't the Blazers may have him play to prove he's healthy.... we'll see.
