I hope not. To begin with, coercing a 14 year old into sex is a flat out crime requiring jail time, IMHO. Then he violates probation and gets 30 days??? It is rare to see such a miscarriage of justice.

Only in your dreams. Women pedophiles get lengthy prison sentences without exception. Many get the max and as a group their average prison sentence is nearly double that of men pedophiles. And that is ignoring tens of thousands of uncharged priests.
Talk about dreaming. For every priest there's at least 2 public school teachers. The guy in this case would have gone to prison for 20 years, except the state's witness killed herself.
well, there are slightly more teachers in the US than there are priests. So that comparison is slightly skewed.
Well since the main witness is no longer available then a lite sentence could be in order. Hang him by his scrotum, hand him a knife and use him as a dart board until he uses the knife, where by he falls into a pit where he is to remain until resurrection day.
I think it's silly that people go to prison for having sex with teenagers without proving there was some cohersion in volved. Despite the fact that our society labels them as minors, and despite their psychological short-comings, they are biologically ready to mate. The teenage years are when humans get horny and sexually active, it's just a biological fact. Since it's not inconceivable that they would willingly have sex with someone over 18, those cases shouldn't be considered "rape" by default. Whether or not something is worthy of being frowned upon, or jail time, are two different things.
