Windmills have come a long way since the days of the great depression...my father used to adjust them in Iowa because they would twist and didn't have the floating hardware they use now....they've pumped water all over the world and produce quite a bit of power around the planet...difference is they don't need fuel to produce it....more powerful would be tapping the tides like they do in New Zealand.....Kiwis produce most of their power from the tides....the reason we don't here is that folks don't want the turbines to muck up the sunset from their beach houses.....Nuclear power is efficient but comes with a risk...see Japan...the fields of windmills on the Southern tip of the Big Island work.....lot of wind there always...basically they are on pretty useless land....I'd rather see them there than gas stations...the Midwest is unique in that there's not a windbreak from the Rockies to the east coast...wind can pick up some speed in the heartland
Looks like it might be Baja. No, anchored of the Capitola pier in Sequel Cove, Monterey Bay. What you doing there, you ask! Listening to the Blazer game. Kings. Go Blazers!
OMG, your boat has red laces! http://www.oregonlive.com/portland/...portland_billboard.html#incart_river_home_pop
Wow! I never knew. Here I thought you just bought the least expensive laces. Laces? What triggered this diversion? Ah! The head sail halyard! Color coded for sure. That is the only red one.
MarAzul entering Marina Del Rey. It doesn't look like much coming in from the sea. Really a gem of a harbor though when you get in there.
You should go visit him. Bring a bottle of something good. MarAzul is a really nice guy in person. Also a picture on his boat would be awesome for the Blazers/Alaska Airlines Wear in the World.
Well come on down! MarAzul is tied up at the guest dock at the outer end of H Basin North side. The Ketch rig, can't miss it. I guess it is Burton Chase Park where we are docked.
Ha! The way it goes, hey! Leaving tomorrow for Long Beach. I think we will be in Redondo Beach Harbor (King Harbor) the evening of Tuesday the second.
Dolphins off the port bow! MarAzul approaching San Pedro and a large pod comes to see what she be. Dang hard to get a shot of those guys with old slow camera. Punched the button many times, got seven shots. One with a Dolphin, and viola! Three.
MarAzul tethered to a mooring buoy like one you can see in the foreground at Redondo beach harbor. Also known as King Harbor. Not much to see from the boat but it sure is close to Hawthorne and Spacex if one had a reason to be close.
My aunt used to live right there. Rancho Palos Verdes. Her house is probably visible on the lower left side.
My son it rowing around in the dingy right now, trying to find a way a shore from here. Nobody here! The Harbor Master's light are out, can't raise anyone. It would be ok except for the dang locked gates every where and no way to get a key. Perhaps we are out of here tomorrow, back to Marina Del Rey.
