<div class="quote_poster">Quoting CourtVision:</div><div class="quote_post">^Ummmm have you seen him play on the Bulls when he was a full time point guard? Natural is not the thing that comes to my mind often when I think of Crawford as a point guard. I think the only reason he is not playing point guard is because he really SUCKS at that position. I mean if Isiah saw him as a point guard he wouldn't have signed him no? He already had one in Marbury. I mean for a guy that has averaged only 5 assists a game once in his career, I do not call him a natural point guard. I mean if you can't tell from his game, the stats should tell the whole story:

    Assists per game
    00-01- 2.3 apg (1.39 turnovers a game)
    01-02- 2.4 apg (1.39 turnovers a game)
    02-03- 4.2 apg (1.68 turnovers a game)
    03-04- 5.1 apg (2.41 turnovers a game)

I won't add this years totals because he is a shooting guard. But really those assist and turnover numbers do not tell me that he is a natural point guard. They actually tell me that he was a horrible point guard. I just do not see how he is all about getting the team involved.

I don't see how this is an excellent move for the Knicks. Marbury needs to have the ball in his hands to score and make plays. He is not the type of person to curl off screens and cut to the open basket. This just trades one player who needs the ball in his hands for another. And if that is the case I would rather have Marbury run the point because he can just get his teammates involved a lot more than Crawford can.</div>
Ummmm, did you know he only played there for about a season? His first season he got 17.2 minutes a game. Not really too much time to really prove himself. His second sesaon he only played 23 games. Hardly enough time no? The next season in only 4 more minutes of play, he averaged 2 more assists and .3 more turnovers. I think that is a key stat. When Kirk Hinirch came the next year he was moved over to the shooting guard position where he was used for more of a scoring role instead of a distributor. Your last stat of 5.1apg should not be used because he played shooting guard. Once he moved over to the 2, his turnovers increased, and his assists only went up by 1 because he didn't have the chance to create for others as much. Hinirch at his size is not really capable of really playing the 2 so he was not a great option for that position. Isiah brought in Crawford because we needed scoring at the 2 while Houston was out. He did not know Houston was going to be out for this long. He wanted a 3 guard rotation similar to what he had in Detroit, and how Wilkens had it in Seattle.

I am convinced that Marbury can curl off plays and play the 2 guard. Why not? The Knicks have been struggling offensively at times and Marbury can't always exploit his scoring to the fullest because he needs to distribute the ball to the offensive that has not been distributing. Marbury can become a full time scorer and wont have to worry about getting the team together because it will be taken care of by Hardaway, or Crawford or whoever. I can not see what makes you think he wont be effective when he rarely plays shooting guard. Marbury is much more controlled than Crawford and he can really isolate with the best in the league. Didn?t they say the same thing about Allen Iverson switching to the 2? We see how that turned out. Even if it doesn?t work, it is worth a try. We are at a desperate need of a shakeup and maybe a lineup change can do that. Who knows, it is definitely worth a try.
