Don't ignore the fact that we get out of Meyers and Harkless contracts in this deal. Both have a negative or zero value at best. Gasol is ace, but his age means he is not valuable. I think if we put Nurkic on the market (we won't) we wouldn't really get better offers than this though.
If someone can get the Blazers Paul George in a separate trade, without giving up Dame or CJ, then trading Nurkic and filler for Gasol would make sense. Dame, CJ, George, Vonleh/Chief, and Gasol is a starting lineup that could do some serious damage, even against the Rockets and Warriors. Gasol is the kind of play you make to add a finishing piece to a contending team. Given his age and contract, he makes zero sense for a team that's still looking for answers at two starting positions.

No. Meaning Gasol more than likely wont be here next year. Do you think we win it all with him this year? If not, then what is the point? NOw IF you get him to commit to signing a contract with us for less than max, im for it. But the facts are this. We OWN Nurk for the next 5 years if we want. Gasol can leave at the end of the season if he wants. You want to gut the team for that? Thats why I stopped. That leaves us with ZERO future. We want to win right? So again, does Dame/CJ/Gasol top GSW? I doubt it. I dont think it would top Houston, GSW, Bostgon, OR Cleveland. Iffy about Toronto and San Antonio. So again . IF we cant win it all this year and then Gasol leaves, we are in a FAR worse spot than last year before Nurk came. So that is what you want?
