<div class="quote_poster">Quoting nextlevelgame:</div><div class="quote_post">Marc Jackson isn't a very good rebounder. SAR would've been better. Marc has a nice mid range jumper and benefited greatly like Kyle Korver did on pentetrations by Iverson last season. He's painfully slow, I think Yao could beat him in a foot race. I think he'll be good off the bench but definitely not starting material at all. I'd rather see Cliff over him in the line up. I see the pick up like the Elden Cambell pick up for the Pistons, as an option to gaurd Shaq. In the '03 playoffs, Marc did a fine job on drawing Shaq out from the paint cause of his jumper and being a big strong body to hold Shaq. Shaq destroys us everytime we played and I think this is a nice piece to perhaps hold Shaq to 25 points instead of 35+</div> I think he will do more for us then Elden Campbell did for the Pistons, simply off the strenght he will play much more then Campbell did in Detroit either season. I think as the rotation is now, he will get about 20 mintes per game, easily. Collins and Krstic stay in alot of foul trouble, and Cliff is still a good defender, but doesnt have the size to deal with 5's, so that is why Jackson will have a regular spot in the rotation. I dont know if Clancy makes the team, he had a big Summer League, but the mangement could look at that from a standpoint that Clancy is a Summer League veteran, so he is comfortable in that situation, so he will know how to take advbantage of young kids, who are nervous and just happy to play their first games in this league. And not take Clancy's play as a true assesment of whether he can play in this league or not. I would rather give Clancy a shot, then waste money on Croshere personally.

Last season, Marc is not a starter, he still has 5 rebounds per game, SAR got it by 7.3. They are not differed too much. In nets, he would be a reliable rebounder, and his furious dirty working could intimidate others in the paint. Overall, although he is worse than SAR, he still has some advantages that SAR doesn't have.

Marc doesn't have the lateral movement and positioning that most good rebounders have. He started a lot of games last year and I remember him getting 2 rebounds every now and then in 20+ minutes. Furious rebounder? You make it seem like it's not his job to get rebounds. He's a big, and that is what he's supposed to do. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Overall, although he is worse than SAR, he still has some advantages that SAR doesn't have.</div> Well you could've say that for any player..unless we got Tim Duncan or KG. Bottom line is that Marc Jackson is a good piece, but SAR was a key piece. SAR would've put us near contention, Marc doesn't really help as much. I would wish that Nets fans don't overrate this pick up cause it's not as great. Marc will be a nice player but he won't change many games, if any at all. He's just here as a weapon against Shaq and Duncan. It'd work if we were on contention level but we're still far from there... I hope Rod has something cooked up to get us a decent to good starting quality power forward.
^ See, nextlevel, I get your point that it isnt a great subsitution for not getting Shareef. And I agree 100%. But where I dont agree is that his major role here is to matchup with the likes of Shaq & Duncan. While that is definately one of his roles, I think Nets mangement and coaching staff is expecting much more from him. I think he will be used in our offense on a consistent basis....especially in pick & roll/pick & pop plays with RJ or Vince. I dont think he will get an abundance of touches in the post..but the Nets will let him get some. And run a play or two from time to time that allows other guys to play off of him down low. He wont be a starter...but I do see a legit role for him.
