I agree with everyone that the Warriors are ranked too high, but I disagree with slamduncan21 that they're going backwards. In fact, the Warriors have a chance of being better than last year, and if they play up to their full potential, the playoffs is not out of the question. Despite Nick Van Exel's early feelings about playing for GS, if Musselman can manage to make him understand that they have a positive situation in GS, they can be a good team. While GS isn't Dallas, it isn't Denver, either. NVE can average about 20 ppg, and J. Rich will average around 18-20 ppg too. I think that at least in this stage in their careers, NVE is better than Gilbert. Gilbert will eventually be much better than NVE will ever be, but for now NVE is better. Mike Dunleavy will be good this season, maybe even the MIP. The SF position is also deep, with the addition of Cliff Robinson. Which brings me to the bench. The Warriors have good backups at every position. There is almost no drop-off in the talent level when Dampier goes on the bench and Foyle comes on the floor. Popeye Jones, a good rebounder, is their sub at PF, and he won't get that many minutes this year, because Troy Murphy will continue with the improvement that he made last year. At SF, like I said, they have Cliff and Mike. At the SG, they have both Calbert Cheaney and Mickael Pietrus. Pietrus is a defensive-minded shooting guard, and the Warriors hope to develop him into a good player soon. At PG, they have Speedy and NVE. We all know that Speedy is ready for a starting position, so imagine what he'll do off the bench (think Earl Boykins- but a better passer). The only possible reason that the Warriors won't do well this year is lack of chemistry. However, we know how Musselman improved the Warriors' attitude last year. Van Exel's agent said that his client will be ready to play at training camp, whether or not he got traded. Van Exel is a professional and a veteran, and will soon come to understand the team's potential. The Warriors of this year also have more veteran leadership in Cliff, Nick, and Calbert Cheaney, so they won't break down late in games like they did last year (remember Gilbert pouting on the bench when he didn't play in 4th quarters?). I look forward to this season, as I feel that the Warriors are ready to play and contend with other teams in the league. I know that this is a highly optimistic viewpoint, but hey, it could happen.
the warriors had a young and exciting team. they might be ok this year but their future is certainly nowhere near as bright.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting NugzFan:</div><div class="quote_post">comparing positions like that doenst prove anything yaoming.</div> Yeah..it could. It can match head to head talent and he just proved that the magic bench is better. As for starting lineup i will disagree and say that it is about even. Magic look great on paper with Tmac, Juwan, Gooden but every year Philly gets it done with AI and his followers. Good post yaoming
magic should have homecourt advantage in the 1st round this year, with tmac bulking up, gooden, giricek, hunter getting better, howard, lue, gaines, zaza as new additions. we definetely got better and i know philly has ai and he always takes them far and to a good record, i think that the magic are better now(i'm biased though)

NOBODY HAS LOVE FOR THE BLAZERS!!! Seriously though, they're better than every team in the east (Nets and maybe Pistons are the possible exceptions). The Rockets have no business being at 11, they didn't do anything in the offseason. You will never convince me that the Nets are better than the Kings. The Magic shouldn't be top 15, and the Celtics shouldn't either.

Yeah you live up to your name, but that gimmick is very old now.

Don't hate on Portland when you worship a team consisting of an overhyped child, an injury waiting to happen, a former Duke player who has yet to live up to expectations, and a guy who's main goal is to make sportscenter's top 10/fill out a stat line. Immaturity can be just as bas as illegal activity (refering to the Cavs, not you). You constantly complain that my "act" is getting old. But you're the only one who complains about it. I suppose you live up to your name as well. Mainly because you (like Lebron) are undeserving of it, and have yet to prove yourself. The only difference is that Lebron was dubbed "King", whereas you are self-proclaimed . Stop crying, and realize that when you hate on Portland, I'll search for faults in your posts, and point out the faults in your team. This isn't personal (we've never met.....) so don't blow it out of proportion.
