<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Silky Smooth:</div><div class="quote_post">How does Marion finish fifth for the defensive player of the year, but not make either of the all-defensive teams? That does not make any sense when you look at it.</div>Exactly. Where is the logic in this? How can you be considered for the DPOY and not make 1st or 2nd team defence?? The snub is not just horrible, it's illogical.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Pwn3d!:</div><div class="quote_post">Garnett is there on name only.</div>I hear ya there man. To me, this struck me as complete...yea. How do you snub him? I don't get it. He was more deserving than KG and a lot more deserving than Kirilenko. To me, Kirilenko on there was crap. No matter how good his defense was, he wasn't even close to healthy this year. He only played about half the year, and to me, he should have been kept off because of that. Marion put up great defensive numbers the entire year and was almost always smaller than the man he was defending. He deserved it more than Kirilenko and more than KG.

KG is on there on reputation but Marion is getting too much credit because of his repution of being a great defensive small forward. As a PF he is good, not great.
Absurd how Marion doesn't get the award... like everybody said, Shawn deserved to be on the team moreso than Kiri. KG, I don't know, but Marion should've been there instead of AK for sure. I mean come on, the guy played half of the season and still wins the award? That's some jacked up decisions by those so-called "people with real knowledge." JWohl, if you want to play the SF / PF position game, then tell me, who is the 2nd best SF defender in the NBA after T.Prince? Can't say Bowen cause they listed him as a guard in the awards.

You already discounted your reasoning of "people with real knowledge" by saying KG is up there due to reputation. Shows how much reasoning they actually have. Kirilenko over Marion? Please. Like Supra James already stated: If Prince is the best defensive small foward (which can be argued) then who is behind him? Remember that Bowen is a guard as selected by your coaches. If you name anyone else over Marion it would be a shame.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting JWohl:</div><div class="quote_post">What I am saying is that he WAS a great defensive player when he primarily played SF but now at PF he is just good, not that great.</div>Seeing that he plays power foward, I guess his stats of 11.3 boards, 2 steals and 1.5 blocks a game can be pretty much done by your average power foward. I don't think so. You can't even use the fact that he does not guard power fowards well one on one because Ben Wallace himself is not a good one on one defender. He (like Marion) is a great team defensive player. That is where all of his accolades come from.
