    I don't think he can legally pay their taxes.

    But even the marginal players are making more than probably all of us so don't cry if they are taxed on $100K jewelry. I mean there are folks in this country and the world facing much worse hardships.

    He can pay their taxes, but that itself is taxable compensation.

    Mavs are strongly opposed, per ESPN story.

    They have said if Cuban wants to add something that's great, but they want rings. Does Cuban really want to piss off players and coaches right now?

    Yep. And then he can pay their taxes for the taxes that he paid. And so on. :)

    I don't know that he can/will do that ("can" under the CBA, I mean)... but he can do it from an IRS perspective.

    Why not? if he was smart, he'd blow the team up now, because they're all too old to get there again.

    That said, pissing off the champs because of something stupid like this is kinda silly. Piss them off by trading them for younger talent and picks.
