K-Mart worth 87 million? Of course not! But this is called negotiating. It's their agent's job to do this and they negotiate from there. Is he worth 60-75 million? Of course! He's not a number1 pick for nothing. Is he showing signs of growth? Check out last post-season where he ate up every PF(except TD). His averages are increasing each and every season. His stats this year? Close to double-double. Is he a vital part of the Nets' success? Of course! Will he get the same stats without J-Kidd? Yes, he can but it wouldn't be in spectacular fashion. You also cannot question this guy's passion for the game. This is someone who changed the schedule of his honeymoon to be a sub for the US team. His maturity? This guy used to rack up technicals and flagrants. Look at him now. I see some comments here saying that all he does is take alley-opps from Kidd. That's their game-plan! Do you really think it's that easy to get free from a defender to perfectly time yourself for a pass? Some say that all K-Mart does is slam the ball in for a follow-up. Isn't this something? Some forwards will get the offensive board. But K-Mart will get it and slam it home. I repeat. He's not worth 87 million. But he's worth of an investment.

As great as KMart may be doing lately, he does not deserve 87 mil. That should be reserved for the highest echolon players, although it isn't.

I'll say it again, he doesn't deserve a max contract. 60-75 million is realistic but not max. But I'd like to point out that his stocks are increasing.

K-mart has been putting up good numbers recently, and he also put up good numbers last year.. but a lot of people will always point out that he screwed up in the Finals. If that discussion is going to start again, there's no use for digging up this topic, imho... And... the Nets decided to wait until the end of this season to re-open talks with him about a contract extension, so I don't think this is a hot issue right now...

You need more bullies in the nba to play enforcer, piss people off and still produce.
