<div class="quote_poster">Quoting olskoolFunktitude:</div><div class="quote_post">rrrright. so was asking for 87 million dollars. they offered him 66 mil which is already more than hes worht and apparently its not enough. Id say this is pretty serious. Kenyon Martin playing without Kidd willjust look like a lost little boy </div> Actually, he may be right. This could be yet another ploy used by Martin and his agent to squeeze out a few more million. It wouldn't be uncommon. Demand to be traded; suddenly NJ comes back with a $70-$75 million offer; KMart says he will consider it.......waits for a few days to pass to make it seem like he is seriously unsure whether or not to resign(maybe squeeze some more money out of it); then calls back and re-ups with them.
Yep agents are always trying to screw teams..and in the end the player they are presenting...stephen jackson is a good example of that...spurs offer him 4 milliona year..the agent thinks they the spurs management aren't buffing..which turns out they are not..the agent says no....as he thought spurs were making it up..then SA trade for hedo and mercer..BOOM...too late for Sjax to return STUPID AGENT spurs wanted him back and were indeed going to give him 4 million...
Don't the agents get a percentage of the amount the player signs for? In that case it's understandable they're always looking for more, but a good agent would prefer to keep his client happy over earning more money himself. In Jackson's case, he might end up on a much lower contract than 4 million...
yea. not only do agents get a cut of a players contracts but its just better if they can get more money than theyre worth cause it makes a big name for them selves. thats why everyone in the baseball world knows who jeff moorad and scott boras are. Jackson might end up getting lower than 4 million and Martin may now end up getting much lower than 66 mil

Reason being, there are still teams out there with their MLE to use($4.9 million), and could use that all on Jackson. Dallas for example. Jackson would be a great backup 2/3 for them that can defend. I doubt that happens, but they wouldn't be adverse to doing that. My guess is Jackson ends up in Denver for slightly higher than $5 million/year salary.
aghhh...stupid Martin. $66-77 million contract doesn't keep you. Absurd!!! f!@#$%^ bast! lol. Sorry, just had to blow off some steam.
Check this out. Kidd speaks out a little on the Kenyon issue AND speculation that a potential trade is in the works involving Kenyon for Rasheed Wallace and Sabonis or Patterson. I'd keep Wallace to prevent the blazers going from bankrupt, maybe Martin thinks he's worth even more on the blazers? http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/story/108169p-97750c.html
in the end, martin stays and we will forget about this whole issue although the lil **** should be taught a lesson he will be a net for 6 more years after this
in the end martin settles for less money or is shipped out of new jersey to somewhere where he will learn a hard lleasson about life without jason kidd. I think he'll average about 11 and 5 as a blazer
