Adriano Martins submitted Daron Cruickshank in his UFC debut in 2013. After losing to Donald Cerrone by head kick KO, he reeled off three straight wins from 2014-15. He lost his last two fights to Leo Santos and Kajan Johnson. His 4-3 UFC record wasn't bad per se but he wasn't making much progress and is 35-years old. He's a skillful fighter but not at the UFC level it seems.

Hacran Dias (3-5 UFC) has lost his last three bouts. All eight of his UFC fights went to a decision. The level of competition he faced was high, including the likes of Ricardo Lamas and Cub Swanson. The 33-year old from Nova Uniao was 20-1-1 when he entered the UFC in 2012, mirroring the outstanding records of his teammates who have come to the UFC such as Jose Aldo and Renan Barao.

Henrique 'Frankenstein' da Silva had a good showing against newcomer Gokhan Saki in September but ultimately lost the bout by TKO, his fourth loss in a row. da Silva was 10-0 when he joined the UFC last year but has gone 2-4 since. It seems likely the 28-year old could return to the UFC with a handful of wins elsewhere, especially given his fighting spirit and high level of activity.

Finally, Japanese legend Takanori 'Fireball Kid' Gomi has (mercifully) been released from his UFC contract, likely ending his career outside of Japan. The 39-year old goes out on his back having lost five straight (including four knockouts and one submission). At one point Gomi was a top ranked lightweight but the dissolution of PRIDE FC corresponded with his career slide, losing eleven bouts in the post-PRIDE era (from 2007, twelve if you include the loss to Nick Diaz which was overturned). Gomi was somewhat cynically used by the UFC for their shows in Asia appearing on six cards in the Eastern hemisphere (2-4). Gomi is a two-time Lightweight Fighter of the Year (MMA Fighting, 2004/5), Fighter of the Year (Sherdog, 2005), Shooto Lightweight World Champion, two-time and only PRIDE FC Lightweight World Champion, PRIDE Lightweight Grand Prix Winner (2005), and had twelve- (Shooto) and ten- (PRIDE) fight winning streaks. Gomi's UFC career was a bomb but he may be considered for the UFC Hall of Fame, the default MMA HOF, based on his career in Asia, much like Sakuraba.
