I would say a history of not managing mental illness in a responsible manner...I sure don't have the answers but there should be a very high bar for obtaining weapons and ammo not only for citizens with mental issues but also policeman or soldiers, etc...it's obvious it needs to be addressed and it's obvious all serial killers pretty much have some form of mental illness. In my view it's just too easy to obtain guns...and handguns are not for hunting...they are for close range shooting...I'd make it very hard to obtain a handgun license and license to carry one ….shotguns and manually chambered rifles are a different demographic in my view.

No. EXTREME safety measures. Just saying I have a history of "mental illness". Should I not have been allowed to purchase a gun? Where is the line?

Pretty sure you're confusing our current President with Obama.

    And what is mental illness.

Some people think you'd have to have a mental illness to look at someone and want to kill them because they are a different color, or where blue or red.

I think the line has yet to be understood since there just hasn't been one...I could say that at 14 years of age I had to go through a very difficult 2 week school to get a farm equipment license to drive harvesters and combines on public roads....but it was restricted to rural areas...A 14 year old kid still could not drive a combine downtown on main street....for public safety reasons...my logic says there should be a school with a very strict guideline for obtaining a weapon that is not designed for rural use aka a shotgun or manually chambered rifle...maybe also have tracking devices on weapons that are obtained with rules that they cannot be used in public urban situation ever...only in rural sporting or designated hunting areas...so few handguns protect anybody but so many kill people in cities and I include automatic weapons in this category.

It's a very complicated definition...there should however be testing and background parameters that include education and evaluation before weapons can be legally purchased...just my view..it concerns me...I grew up hunting but would never be allowed to carry a weapon to town or a public place...it was unthought of where I grew up. Just make it a thorough vetting process.

    So much dis-information.

Handguns are definitely used for hunting, not that hunting has anything to do with The Second Amendment. You must be thinking of Britain or some other enslaved society.

"Managing mental illness in a responsible manner" is just an ignorant and insulting attack on those less fortunate than you.

Drawing distinctions between guns with different designs (noticeably giving your personal weapon of choice a pass) is a coward's diversion used only to deprive the masses of protection against enslavement. Again, it does not apply to The Second Amendment.

BTW, when you talk about banning handguns, what you really mean is disarm the minority masses, because that is the only weapon owned by the bulk of American minorities.

..."hand guns are definitely used for hunting"...hunting for what, other humans?

...I've been an avid hunter for years and I've never used a hand gun...nor have I ever heard of anyone using a hand gun to hunt with.

Some would say this rambling, nearly incoherent plan to spy on all Americans while leaving them completely defenseless is the concoction of a madman.

One look at some of your threatening posts against the President would be all the Leos need to arrest you for observation.

    Better turn in your guns.

Please pay attention or don't respond as first you misclaimed what I meant in my post and this is what riverman said about handguns

.I'd make it very hard to obtain a handgun license and license to carry one

You are in the group that prefers to dodge and deflect and would rather maintain the status quo rather than look at ways of improving life because you feel threatened in your town of what 1500 people?

    I call BS.

No legal hunter in America has never heard of anyone using a handgun to hunt with.

Misstatement river. There is no logic at all in this rant. It is your feeling. If you were to use logic, you would understand the 2nd amendment speaks for most of us. Your feelings are simply a minority opinion but in no way is it logical or persuasive.

I beg to differ....and my posts weren't rants..mediocre man and I were discussing the issues of mass shootings and mental health in a very logical fashion..it's fine for you to disagree but I didn't claim to have the answer to this problem..I just voiced possibilities and opinions..whether in the minority or not, they are my opinions ...not rants..learn the difference and we'll have the conversations Marz….I have solid views about mental health and gun control but never claimed to have the answers...rather I pose the questions I deem relevant...best to talk about the subject than about me Marz...that's the logical path. We don't have to agree to have these conversations but we should have these conversations. Differences of opinion don't need to make people adversaries...also a more logical approach to discourse...

I have driven my combined, repaired my combined, worked my combined where needed. Never did anything with a combined in town. No need nor is there a 2nd amendment or the equivalent covering my use of combined. I still an not likely to drive one downtown. Might pack some protection though, when I feel the need.

I used to love the Cosmetics department. There's a lot of sweet smelling, good looking women there. Took great discipline to control my wondering eye whenever I went in that department with my wife. TREMENDOUS DISCIPLINE.
