Okay, so with that deal, Mavs can't go above the 1st apron. If they can only start at 9 million, then it's a 4 year/40 million deal.

At that price, I think you have to match. That is super tradable.

 

Dallas could still offer the full MLE to Thybulle, but Dallas would have to cut/stretch McGee.
But even at $12.4M you match that contract.

 

I'm honestly shocked this isn't in consensus. Theres no other opinion but to match. There's no argument. To argue it you are saying "I'm wrong, I just want you to hear how wrong I am".

 

From a money and talent perspective giving him the offer makes sense for POR. Exceptional defender. Could be sniffing DPOTY at some point.

I wonder if part of this was in relation to the Grant Williams stuff.
I think his agent (Aaron Goodwin) is trying to apply pressure for Dame with Matisse. Goodwin stating that Thybulle will not resign unless Dame is traded to Miami. However, since Thybulle is a RFA - that threat is fairly weak.

 

With Thybulle and Grant, likely Blazers include: Badji, Butler / Walker, Murray, Rupert / JeenathanWilliams, Simons, Scoot, Sharpe
