The Dallas Mavericks cleared a spot on their roster on Friday, waiving center Javale McGee and shedding $1.4 million in non-guaranteed salary.

McGee signed in August 2015 with Dallas on a two-year contract. In 34 appearances for Dallas, he played 10.9 per game and averaged 5.1 points and 3.9 assists per game. The Washington Wizards drafted the 7-foot big man with the 18th pick in the 2008 draft.

His size and leaping ability are his best NBA assets. Between 2010 and 2013, he ranked second, third, and sixth in blocks over three seasons. He also ranked seventh, fifth and third in field goal percentage over that span.
