Latest rumor hitting the boards is supposedly Najera is on his way back to Dallas in a possible sign and trade for Keith Van Horn. If it goes down, the "Glue Crew" is officially back in Dallas and I'm totally lost with what is going on with our roster. If it goes down, this leaves hardly any room for Powell. Althought I'm pretty happy if it does go down, as I rather have Najera then Powell behind Dirk and Howard. But yea it take it for what it is now.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>He came, he saw, he partied. Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban made a big splash with TV critics here, appearing with new HD Net employee Dan Rather at a packed press conference and attending BET and Style network parties on his own. He also tried to do some basketball business, taking a poolside call from Mavs general manager Donnie Nelson at the Style soiree. Two former Mavs role players, Eduardo Najera and Greg Buckner, could be part of the team's future plans, he says.</div> Well I guess it was legit, I wonder who we might be trading, I think it's fair to say Van Horn but who would be filler?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Hopefully it's Van Horn and Griffin. I don't want Mbenga being traded.</div> Griffin? Donnie has already said were bringing him back and will get him signed before the week is over with. The filler will be one of Rawle, Powell or Pavel most likely. I'm guessing Powell because Najera basically makes him expendable.
What's the point of being overloaded with swingmen. Griffin, Stackhouse, Howard, Nowitzki, Croshere, and Najera? I don't think Dallas does this unless one of the ones mentioned get traded due to the overload at the 3/4.
Umm...Najera isn't exatcly a swing player...he's got some ability to run the floor, as all of us Mavs fans know, but the guy is a banger, and he was when he was here.I think having him behind Dirk and Croshere at the 4...and behind Josh and Stack at the 3 would be great..and this team should win tons of games next year.

Yes even the 5(he played Shaq and Yao during his time here), especially now with all the small centers. Also, he's not a guy who demands minutues and with his injuries, it's better that way. He can contribute in small doses throughout the season and give a different look from Croshere. And when did Dirk and Croshere become swingmen? But as of right now, it's all speculation and while I would like the addition, I feel were better off filling the third pg spot and cutting Rawle to complete our roster. Also, want to note I am on the Pops bandwagoner and hope he beats out Powell.
Kenyon And The Options: An informed source near the Nuggets says Kenyon Martin will be traded before the start of camp, in fact the Nuggets were hoping for a decision this week on Martin and had told media that the Francisco Elson decision was going down to the wire as they?d hoped to have finalized a Martin trade in time to match Sico's offer sheet. Ultimately the trade did not get done, and the Nuggets let Elson go to San Antonio, but the team is simply that close to making a deal ? they have but their price tag out there, its simply waiting for a team to trigger a deal. <u>Rumor has it the Mavericks are still in the hunt, and a sign and trade deal may be coming involving Keith Van Horn</u>, its also believed the Knicks have a standing offer of Steve Francis and a player as well. The 76ers were supposedly talking with Denver about an Iverson deal that would send them Martin and Andre Miller, but again nothing seems close enough to say which one is closer to happening. From hoopsworld, it's been boring for Mavs so far, and this rumor might bring back dirk4prez. I'd do this deal, but I don't see why Nugs would take on a starting salary with Van Horn at Kmart's price. Unless their that desperate to unload him.
Martin would wind up playing more minutes than KVH because we'd be getting rid of other players. Rok you think we could run Martin at 5? It would be a run and gun team with good defense as well, I think Martin can play D and Dirk's gotten better I say we'd be a high scoreing defensive team and if that didn't work we could always switch someone out with one of our reliable backups like Diop, + I think Dirk could play 3 he did early in his carrer. Sure he'd have a hard time playing D on players like LeBron, but we could put one of defenders like George on him.
I think Martin can play the 5 here in Dallas, because if you look at centers out West, their small. But Nuggets aren't trading Martin for Damp/Van Horn, if they can't find any takers, they'll keep him. And that's what they've indicated so far. Mavs just need to add at least one big, 4/5 that has problem sitting on the IR and cheering the team. Jackson Vroman comes to mind and I expect he will take the last spot. If we get a team that flat out sign and trades for Van Horn, I'll laugh.
Yeah I guess Vroman seems like the last roster position to pick from. Either that or Darius Washington.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Simmons and Gadzuric are to be dealt in a threeway as soon as a few wrinkles get ironed out. Simmons and Delfino will be going to Dallas, Gadzuric to Detroit, Stackhouse and Davis to Milwaukee. The only holdup is the level of protection the picks coming from Detriot and/or Dallas will have. Cash will also be included, to that I don't know where from or to whom.</div>http://realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=557344What a crazy rumor . I thought I'd post it here since it was posted on every Mavs board. I honestly don't see the trade from the Mavs perspective. I mean it's great talent wise, but Simmons has a large contract and the trade makes Buckner and George a big waste of money. I'd still do it but it goes against what Cubes has done lately and possibly makes Howard a free agent.
