I think the Maricks needs center that can block here are the leading blockers in the league: 1. Theo Ratliff (Portland Trail Blazers) 3.61 2. Ben Wallace (Detroit Pistons) 3.04 3. Andrei Kirilenko (Utah Jazz) 2.76 4. Tim Duncan (San Antonio Spurs) 2.68 5. Marcus Camby (Denver Nuggets) 2.60 6. Jermaine O'Neal (Indiana Pacers) 2.55 7. Zydrunas Ilgauskas (Cleveland Cavaliers) 2.48 7. Shaquille O'Neal (Los Angeles Lakers) 2.48 9. Samuel Dalembert (Philadelphia 76ers) 2.30 10. Elton Brand (Los Angeles Clippers) 2.23 11. Kevin Garnett (Minnesota Timberwolves) 2.17 12. Radoslav Nesterovic (San Antonio Spurs) 2.01 13. Yao Ming (Houston Rockets) 1.90 14. Dikembe Mutombo (New York Knicks) 1.89 15. Erick Dampier (Golden State Warriors) 1.85 Among these players i think the Maricks should get AK 47, he is EXTRACKly what the Maricks needs, he can steal, block and shot threes. I doubt the Utah will do it,but maybe Jamison Bradley and Josh Howard are enough to get AK 47. I also thinks that Macus Camby is alos a good choice to get, he can also block and steal, As long as he is heathly he is a low post presences. Erick Dampier is alos a good choice for the Maricks, he is the definiton of low post presence. Maybe they should trade guys like Walker or Finley for him, i dont think the Warriors will want jamison back.
I hope they trade Walker. I don?t think they gonna trade finley.Ratliff, Dampier or Camby would be great for the mavs.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting WhiteManCanJump:</div><div class="quote_post"> Why this works for Dallas: <u>Zydrunas Ilgauskas:</u> 7 foot 3, decent defender who has been playing bad after all of the things that have happened this year. Maybe when on a contender, he would pick up his game. Also, he is big enough to disrupt things in the middle of a zone and could guard the bigger men out west if needed to. [</div> huh? did i just see the word 'defender' pertain to Ilgauskas? The last time I checked, the only Ilgauskas in the league doesn't play much defense - and routinely misses games due to foot injuries.

As much I LOVE Kirilenko's game and attitude, he plays the same position as Dirk Nowitzki and he isn't exactly a post defender and post scorer. What Dallas needs is a post threat/on-the-ball post defender (not just a help defender like Kirilenko). And yes, KIRILENKO IS ALSO A FREE AGENT.

Count on the Blazers to sign him to close to a max contract sometime this season. They love his defensive ability & they can pay him the most. I'd think that's pretty much a done deal. As for Camby, he's officially opted out of his contract but Kiki's pretty much hammered out a new, richer contract with Camby's agent, according to Dr. Jack Ramsay.
Well it looks like you might be wrong Dee Still Ballin. In the first post of this thread you say "no Shaq's because we all know it won't happen". It looks like Shaq is a possibility for us now. The Lakers say Dirk Nowitkzi has to be included in the deal but we say Dirk is "untouchable" I think this would be a good trade for us: Lakers Get: Antoine Walker Jerry Stackhouse Josh Howard Future First Rounder We Get Shaq Daddy Luke Walton
Hi, I am new to the forums and I am a Dallas Mavericks fan. I just thought you guys might want to read this. Not sure about it's authenticity and it's probably loaded IMO. I don't know what the link is I just found it at another fourm. Bringing the Kidd Back Home The whispers of Kidd to Dallas are really heating up behind the scenes at the Mavs summer offices. Don Nelson has been on several conference calls between Dallas brass and the Nets, the main topic is none other than Jason Kidd. Losing Kenyon Martin and replacing him with inexperienced players that lack the physical toughness that Martin has is a scenario that is not sitting well with Kidd. The Nets have been sending out feelers to the rest of the league about Jason and his desire to play elsewhere as the Nets rebuild. Kidd, who is presently vacationing out of the country, has been in contact with his wife and other family members considering whether to add pressure on the Nets to pull off this move for him. Other teams have been hesitant to speak seriously about acquiring Kidd so soon after his recent knee surgery. One NBA GM told us that if Kidd were healthy, it would put Dallas immediately near the top of not only the Western Conference but the entire NBA. "Jason has always been someone that lifts his team to perform at a higher level", said this GM, "Granted that Dallas' other key pieces were still there, I would have to say this will make them a top 3 contender". The deal for Jason Kidd would resolve Kidd's desire to win a championship now, put him in a place that he still speaks fondly of, match him up with his #1 fan in the NBA, Don Nelson, as well as possibly alleviate the financial concerns of the Nets. As is always the case, there are many things that will have to be worked out between the two teams to make this transaction work under the collective bargaining agreement. The principal reasons this deal is being negotiated is three fold, 1.) Kidd's unhappiness with the moves the Nets organization is making towards the future, a future that Kidd doesn't have enough good years left to wait on, 2.) Dallas' desire for a veteran point gaurd to handle Nelson's varied offensive sets, feed Dirk Nowitzki the ball in positions to be the kind of player Nelson believes he can be, and improve Dallas' rebounding/defense at the point gaurd position, 3) The financial aspects of Alonzo Mourning's contract and inability to be counted on due to his health. The trade has not been finalized because some of the players to be dealt from Dallas are awaiting August 24th, the end of the mandatory 60 day waiting period for trading newly acquired players. The Nets could not be reached for additional comments regarding this proposed trade and informed us to, "See what August 24th brings us". This non-denial was as clear of an indication of how close this deal is to being done. If that comment wasn't enough to excite the Dallas fans, the "Jason has never been an East Coast kinda guy" comment should have them running to the closet to dust off the old #5 jerseys.
Wow Windmill! Thank you for giving me something happy to wake up to this morning. The trade makes sense for many reasons. I could see Josh Howard thrown in with the expiring contracts of Walker and Laetner as well as possibly Pavel Podkolzine in exchange for Kidd and Mourning's dead contract. This gives the Nets a couple talented young players with unlimitted cap room next year (enough for Yao?) coupled with the draft picks they got from Denver, great start to a rebuilding process. Kidd in Dallas would be an awesome fit. He'd run Nelson's offense flawlessly and might be a top MVP candidate with this collection of shooters around him.
Oh yes this sounds good and you dont know what the Nets might want now that they have given up kerry Kittles oh my, what an Offseason this is turning out to be. I hope its just antoine walker send him back to the east.
Yep, that Kittles deal was a total salary dump. Mourning and Kidd are all they have on the books for anything of substance now. How would Kidd feel now that his two main men have both been dealt for draft picks. Jefferson comes up next year.
Hey Mavs Fans, If Baron Davis is really on the blocks, don't you think we should go for him? He's a great defender, fits perfectly with the direction this team needs to go. Why him and not resign Nash? He's five years younger, a great defender, reliable, and just as good of a passer and scorer. I'm thinking Jerry Stackhouse and/or Jason Terry and/or Josh Howard. I'd give New Orleans any two of those guys. How would this sound? Baron Davis Marquis Daniels Micharl Finley Dirk Nowitzki Eric Dampier That lineup would be sick!!!!!!!
Yea I agree. But im not sure how good Davis would fit in with the MAvs. He shoots a lot of 3s Kinda like Antoine walker. But this would still be a good trade especially if hes healthy
Finley for Shareef http://www.sportsline.com/nba/story/7702022/2 I really don't think there is much to this note about a possible trade of Michael Finley for Shareef Abdul-Rahim. From the Mavs perspective, it is a horrible trade. Finley is a leader, and a guy that doesn't mind taking a back seat to Dirk, but is not afraid to step up when called upon. He's a poor defender and doesn't get to the line as much as he should, but he's still a great shooted from 3pt range and will win a few games a year on his own. While Rahim is an equal scorer to Finley, he's more of an inside player. With all due respect to the article, the Mavs would rather keep Dirk at Power Forward, so he can pull slower guys to the perimeter and drive past them or shoot over them. At the small forward, Dirk is not as effective since it is harder for him to drive. What do ya'll think? I think Portland would really benefit, but it would hurt the Mavs, and therefore, it is insane. The only upside is that it removes Finley's huge contract.
It would hurt the Mavs and portland would really benefit. The mavs dont need SAR IMO. They have enough big mean with Dirk Dampier Booth bradley Mbenga and henderson. We dont have that much use for SAR. It would be nice to let Josh Howard and Daniels develop more by trading Finely but were looking to win a Championship.
Marquis Daniels doesn't deserve more time than Josh Howard. I think they should start Jerry Stackhouse. Remember Stackhouse on the Pistons?
