Biggie can't, unfortunately - that's why he didn't go top 5 in the draft.

Not surprising that Swift showed a natural talent for stealing at such a young age. More recently, he's taken his game to an entirely different level:

I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case in the near future. But as things currently stand, Vonleh is our 2nd best defender (not saying a lot, but...). I've said it several times already but everything about Swanigan except size/position reminds me of Dame, so I think he's got a semi-decent chance at being one of those draft steals taken in the 20s-30s. But he needs to play defense, and he needs to actually prove he's got an NBA-level offensive game. Vonleh already has 50% of that, and with Nurkic he wasn't looking too awful on the other 50%.

Vonleh ended the season on a quite imptessive note. I think its because he focused on being a rebounder and defendee. Maybe Nurk being there helped him as well?

The point of the thread is that the BE article is wrong. Why would you(or anyone) boo?

Swanigan has been told he can't a lot in his life. He seems to find a way. Hopefully he does with his defense too.

Swanigan showed he could guard the perimeter and switch as well as Vonleh in Summer League for what it's worth. His timing on rebounds is already better than Noah. He's already got a better jumper too.

Comparing Vonleh to LMA makes no sense to me. LMA has his go-to shots and fairly refined pick and pop game that covers the entire mid-range. Vonleh gets his buckets on put-backs at the rim. You would have to look hard to find two more different shot charts for PFs:

Probably, but the last 7 games of the regular season when Nurk did not play, Noah had some good games. (5 good games, and 2 poor ones-both against the Jazz) Nonetheless in those last 7 games he still averaged 57% from the field and 9 rebounds. (93% from the line)

I guess the difference between Vonleh and biggie is that Vonleh did it against NBA players. Caleb looks like he will, he just hasn't yet.

Absolutely. At times his footspeed looked really good in summer league, other times it didn't.

I understand your point, but don't agree. I wanted to compare 2 players with similar percentages, but different usages - LMA fit the bill, even with vastly different shot charts.

An important question, to me, is whether Vonleh's percentages would go up or down with increased usage, and your shot charts may be useful there, but for simplicity
I'm assuming they stay the same with increased usage.

    Swanigan finds a way.

They have very similar bodies, same weight, with exactly the same standing reach, with Vonleh having a little wider wing span. There probably isn't any reason Swanigan couldn't work on his lateral quickness to be at least as good as Vonleh.
