People keep talking about the total of McGregor's hits and act like that some sort of accomplishment. That was Floyd Mayweather's strategy. The first thing he did in the fight was back up to the ropes and give his version of the rope-a-dope. Which means Conor McGregor is going to get way more punches. I want to say Floyd maybe punched three times in that first round. That was by Design.

True, a KO is a KO. Just that the best of all time shouldn't have taken 10 rounds to beat a guy who wasn't a polished or even semi pro boxer.

That's by design for most of Floyds fights yes.

Floyd isn't a complete moron though. Who actually wants to get a clean uppercut to the face.

Conor still hit him over 100 times when sports talking heads were saying he wouldn't touch him once.

    That's an accomplishment.

Floyd took this shot for the fans. For you guys. He wanted a clean shot to the face.

    All part of the gameplan!

Btw why was the "gameplan" reliant on the rookie getting tired?

Because Floyd is a smart fighter? Why should he change the way he is and try to knock him out in round 1 when he knows he can bob and weave and tire him out? Pushing to knock him out in round 1 potentially leaves you open for a mistake.
If a great running football team greatly overmatches their opponent, is the smart thing for them to try to bomb the ball downfield because they're better? Or stick at what they do best, knowing good runs will turn to great runs later on in the game.

It was a great fight. They stopped too early but it was a great fight.

Most enjoyable Money fight I've ever seen. Nice to see him go on the offensive for once. Only took an amateur boxer.

I watched the highlights and end of the fight...at the end it was clearly a TKO....McGregor lost his legs and arms and was not able to protect his head at that point.....there's a good reason they stop those when they do...he was finished...anything more would've been a high risk for serious concussion...the dude was punch drunk at the end...took 170 of them...tough Irishman but no need to be stupid...ruin his action hero career.

Don't know anything about these two fighters personally...past my era of following the fight game but boxing was the winner of this match....even a 40 year old Mayweather or a 44 year old George Foreman were champions with real skill. McGregor had a brawlers chance but he was clearly outmatched ...50 wins undefeated...damned impressive record

It was simply impressive that McG went 9 rounds with one of the best ever. The tko wasn't unexpected.

He was going forward the whole time. Mcgregor was landing his shots. Maybe they weren't powerful, or mayweathers chin is just that good, but he was landing them nonetheless. Don't tell me that getting hit clean was part of the gameplan.

And these weren't two football teams. This was a football team against a rugby team.
