So God is supposed to prevent anything bad from happening to us? I suppose that means he should prevent car accidents, and natural disasters, and house fires, and all kinds of diseases? We should never fall and break a bone, never have a disappointing relationship, never get fired from our jobs, never go through a divorce?? God is supposed to prevent all of that? Is that what you're saying? We live in a fallen, sinful world, and bad things happen to us down here. That's why heaven is a much better place, and why we should all be striving to get there.
the question for me is how far the republican tactics will backfire. Will there be backlash against the republican congressional candidates? Will this be a one-election blip, or will there be a residual effect in 2012 (I suspect it will hinge on what happens over the past four years, but I wouldn't be surprised if there is some lingering distrust after this horrible campaign)? Regardless of what you believe, it is hard to find many accomplishments over the past eight years. Perhaps it is time for change. The conservative republicans here seem a bit fearful of that change, what it will bring, what will happen. Isn't it time to try something new? If what Obama is selling doesn't work, then in four years there will be another change--that is, if the republicans haven't burned too many bridges over the past three months to carry over that long. What we're seeing now is the republican party frantically, desperately trying to keep their grip on power. They've been in the WH for roughly 28 of the last 40 years, and 20 of the last 28. Their campaign has nothing to do with issues; it has degraded into mud-slinging and name-calling. I think that they could be inadvertently torpedoing the chances of the down-ticket candidates as well due to their ridiculous, ineffective tactics. The republicans have to stop thinking of the wh as their birthright. This fear-mongering is too much for me. If Obama is elected, and the fate of the country does not improve, I will be disappointed--but the current path is clearly not working, and McCain is clearly not an agent of change. Obama is getting the support of most of the undecideds and independents. It is not just because of this so-called "class warfare" tactic. It certainly hasn't worked before, so taht can't be the reason. People are sick and ready for change. It startles me that so many of you are so much in fear of this happening.
if heaven is ruled by the sadistic genocidal megalomaniac described in the bible i wouldn't be so sure it's going to be a better place.
If you believe that, you had better start kissing his ass, because dealing with a vengeful God for eternity doesn't sound like much fun.
Why? One can believe the Bible says that and not believe that it's actually true. Not all of us agree that the Bible is the unerrant word of God.
You should be arrested for saying that. Dissent is patriotic, unless you're voicing dissent against the loudest voices of dissent...
