with the explosion of Dario Saric i was wondering if a trade between us and the Sixers wasn't a win-win situation for both teams. Saric is similar to Simmons such as McCollum is similar to Lillard, in addition the rookie scale contract of Saric would help our cap situation as the McCollum max contract would help the Sixers reach the salary floor (given the fact they only have rookies). Lillard Crabbe Harkless Saric Nurkic Fultz/Ball McCollum Covington Simmons Embiid
After the ASG he's averaging nearly 20+8+4 in just 32 minutes. He handles the ball very well for a PF, he can shoot (he can certainly be better at that and probably would in our system), High basketball IQ, good passer and he would complement Nurkic very well. also, like i said, he's in the first year of a rookie contract, it would be HUGE for our cap situation given also the fact that next year we must extend Nurkic. Remember when i proposed a trade for Jokic two months ago and everybody laughed at it? I'm sure that everybody will have less to laugh even this time after Saric's value will become higher than CJ's next year.
While I believe that Saric would be a perfect fit I am not willing to let CJ go just for him because that greats a huge hole in the SG position. Crabbe is not nearly good enough. All in all this would be like doing the 76ers a favor as they also have RoCo and Simmons for SF-PF so Saric will probably be a bench player next year. If they like Crabbe though I'd attach a 1st round pick just to get Saric, but I suppose this is not good enough for them.
People laughed at you because you were proposing trading Lillard. And it wasn't everybody--it was two people. Quit exaggerating. I actually like the idea, but I'd at least want Justin Anderson as well. However, I'd like to see how the team as currently constituted performs over the final 13 games plus playoffs. Turner returning to form and Vonleh developing alongside Nurkic could well turn us into a very formidable squad. Of course, GDiama is correct; if there's any way to convert Crabbe+?? into Saric, that would be the optimal result. Is there any chance Philly would overvalue Crabbe that much? Could "the Nurkic effect" possibly drive his value up that high?
Yes if he was faster probably he could average 30 He is just 22 and he has tons of bball iq that you cannot teach.
Saric is not enough for CJ. Saric and their pick this year, maybe but i'm not sending CJ out for a rookie who has shown he can be a pretty good player for 20 games. CJ is 16th in points this year and of the 32 players who avg 20ppg only 6 of them have a higher fg% and none of those six are guards, unless you count Yannis as a guard which I don't, I look at him more as a SF who runs the offense much like Lebron, and not one person in that 32 shoots a higher 3p % this year. CJ has shown he is elite at the 2 guard position, all Saric has shown is that he is elite in the worst rookie class we have seen in a LONG while.
The word missing from your entire post is DEFENSE. we don't need scorers. We need a fuck you enforcer type that can shut down players on defense. This isn't fantasy basketball, or an all star game. Roster construction is important
We need defenders because of the holes Lillard/McCollum cause on defense, if you trade one of the two and insert Crabbe in the starting lineup along with Saric you have more balance.
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah! Good one. Crabbe is the worst defender on a bad defensive team, but making him a starter and and adding a defensively challenged big makes us a better defensive team???? Ok, to be fair, you didn't say better, you said more balanced, and you're right. Our front court defense would suck just as much as our back court defense. Be careful what kind of balance you wish for. BNM
