Good night fellas. Love the game tonight. After the first 10 minutes we really took it to them. Great to see.
I'd see what it takes to get Upshall or Fleischmann out of Florida. Probably not more than DZ/prospect/3rd rounder.
Fleischmann has a $4.5 mil cap hit. I still don't see desperation or any moves by Glen, he has not historically made panic moves early in the season despite the endless ravings of some posters. They lost a close 2-1 game to the NHL's best team Anaheim and beat the best team in their division handily without their best player. My first post on this great troll-free board was how I liked AV's style in preseason, gone are the days of blue-shirted shot blocking curling stones now replaced with up tempo aggressive goal attacking. This team is developing chemistry, take your fingers off the panic button and enjoy!
It's not panic, but they need to plan ahead is if Nash may not be back this year. There's nothing wrong with making a move or two to solidify things. Just because they've played better lately dosen't mean they don't need one more solid forward up front. You're not going to get an impact forward for much less than 3m so if you send DZ back somewhere they can figure out the last 1-2 along the way.
If Nash is done for the year I'd rather see the Rangers go the development route and bring up more youth, Allen or McIlrath in Stralman's spot and any kid who can lace up skates in Pyatt's spot.
I agree Pyatt needs to go, but if you need to they could just waive him and save another 1-2m on the cap for anybody they dealt for. There's no guarantee Allen or McIlrath especially are close to ready. If they want to go deep in the playoffs they need help from a player through trade. If Nash returns all the better but if not they need another 15-20g guy with some size. I would like to see Lindberg at some point this year.
I believe Vinny Prospal was the only 15-20 goal guy the Rangers have signed in the last 5 years who lived up to the billing, maybe Gomez but too many others hanen't panned out. I think what keeps getting missed this year is that hump Tortorella is gone. I don't think it's unrealistic to expect 15-20+ goal seasons from Richards, Stepan, Callahan, Hagelin, Kreider and Brassard, 10-15+ from Zuccarello, McDonagh, Boyle, Pouliot and MDZ.
