<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (CB4AllStar @ Jun 9 2006, 12:19 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Maybe Volek will start towards the start of the season to help and mentor young, and to keep him out of pressure, but you've got to be out of your mind if you think that Young won't replace Volek mid-season as the starting QB.</div>Why? McNair, who was also a third overall pick, didn't get immediate playing time. Volek's first ten starts are the most productive first ten starts (yardage-wise) in NFL history. Everybody out of Nashville is saying that they're going to take it slow with VY. He'll get playing time, but I don't think he'll start...

I didn't see it in that quote in the start of this thread, but I thought I heard on the radio that McNair was signed to a four year deal with the Ravens....?....if that's correct, what the hell are you doing Baltimore??!!! He's 33 and slowly declining. IS he supposed to mentor Kyle Boller or something. I didn't really get this move.

He will likely retire before the deal is finished, maybe as soon as this year even. He's getting up there in age.

NFL contracts aren't guaranteed. Baltimore can cut Steve McNair with no loss at any point.
