When what I do and why I do it is being misconstrued I felt it was important it take a moment and explain. Also I would rather take the time to "plead" in an attempt to get people to stop with the personal attacks. I'm a little surprised you don't understand why I do this. I watched personal attacks get so out of hand on Oregonlive that they eventually escalated to threats. Threats that became so serious that you filed a complaint with the police and district attorney.

This thread was a personal attack on MM and anyone else listed in it. Is there a way we can see which of our posts were edited? I'm curious to know what my personal attack was, as I don't believe one was intended, so I can't change my behavior without knowing what I did.
I can't remember what it was and since it doesn't happen often I don't believe it was intended or a problem. The reason I remembered it was because it's unusual for you to do that.
FWIW, I've never been a fan of editing posts. Deleting posts, yes. The idea being we don't change what you wrote. But if you ruin your own brilliant 5 paragraphs with a final sentence that's an insult, it's your own fault.
So, from what I am understanding I can attack the post, but not the poster..so instead of saying that "You are a lack witted fool" I can say that the post was foolish and lacked any wit..have I got this correct?
Well just trying to help, you do seem a bit stressed. Hey, that time at OL damn near worked out right. The OSP detective was already to have me meet the guy but the district attorney didn't want to let him do it until he knew the guys real name. I was already to go but I couldn't get anyone at OL to give the guy up. But I don't know if anyone else besides Lanny and ABM knew his real name. Rather disappointing that I couldn't get the SOB busted for his shit.
And I disagree, I think people get more upset when their post is deleted versus the one part that is a personal insult changed/edited. I get that people for whatever reason some times needs to vent. I'd rather let their 5 paragraphs of brilliance stand with just a small edit then delete the entire thing because of one "you're an idiot" in it. But that is just me and I am always open to discussion about how I mod and for ways I can do it better.
You really need to be extremely articulate when doing that because I tried that and I got edited. But yes, that is correct
