Not sure if we overrated Blazers as they lucked into the WCF, are starting to greatly miss not keeping one of Aminu/Harkless, or I'm a complete idiot for thinking the Blazers could possibly contend. Maybe the national media was right to rate the Blazerz as a fringe playoff team. It's not a good day to be a Blazer fan.
CJ has been overall good and valuable in the playoffs over the years. But he's been declining in the regular season for the last 3 years. And regular season is important, especially this season in the West. I remember a lot of people thought that CJ was going to grow to be a better player than Dame. Clearly that is not the case and CJ has maybe lost that motivation he once had (which i’m guessing is that cash). Every other team in the West expected to contend this year has a winning record. Then we are sitting at 3-4... This is not good. I'm worried about this team.
As I've been saying for years, roster changes aren't going to save this team with this coach. I wish I was wrong but I think we have a terrific roster. Our coach still makes mistakes that a high school coach would make. These things cost wins. Stotts has already cost us 3 wins by my count. Danilo, Blake Griffin or Kevin Love is hardly going to change that. And while I think Olshey is a good GM, his biggest error in judgement has been the number of years he's given this coach.
This thread will be brought up a number of times by the first of the year i'm sure. 7 games in and we are trading CJ and firing the coach. Hassan Whiteside is a bust and Olshey has been selling us a terrible roster with less talent than last year. At least that is the take from the latest game thread!
What about him? He's a super-religious asshole? Or is the plan to hire him for a short while and then hope to replace him with Steve Kerr so that we take off like a rocket? Stotts is fine. He consistently overachieves given the piecemeal roster he's given. When he retires, the coach I really wish we could get is Erik Spoelstra. Look at what he's done with the Heat. Also: he grew up in Portland and wore #30 in honor of his fave player, TERRY PORTER!
I think I'll just spend my time in the OT forum for the foreseeable future. It's much more calm there.
BUMP! Definitely time to bump this! I was so very right with my prediction. 10 games in and it's total chaos on the board! The posters leading the way happen to be the very same posters that were all telling everyone 52 to 55 wins was a "reasonable expectation" because of how much improved this roster is! Those same posters have the Blazers finishing 2nd seed this year. http://www.sportstwo.com/threads/th...-loss-predictions-thread.350373/#post-4843781
