I would rather suck for a few years and have guys like Scoot and Shaedon to show for it, rather than ride the treadmill for 8 years with nothing to show for it.

Or, just enjoy the games, watch some young talent develop and see what the current new management can put together. The idea of watching the same old same old for another few seasons has zero appeal to me.

In a few years both of those guys might be gone as well.

    “Current New Management”?
    Hmmm. Where ya been?
Bert Kolde and Joe Cronin are not new at all. On top of that Jody is clueless.
This team needs to be sold ASAP.

With Portlands luck, they missed out on Wemby by one digit this year, but will get the number one pick next summer in a tepid draft. But someone will emerge. Can't have another Anthony Bennet draft.

I understand and appreciate your Dame fandom. But in the past few weeks he and his team have pretty much gone scorched earth on the Blazers. When Dame was on his world tour going city to city talking about Portland needs to do what Dame wants or they will have another conversation, I knew he was gone because he was publicly tanking his trade market and killing any leverage the Blazers would have in trying to trade Dame. Dame owns that.

Now Dame and his team have been admonished for what? Publicly speaking about demanding a trade and then only to Miami. Dame owns that. I have been staying away from a victory lap crowing that Dame was killing his value and killing Portlands leverage. I was saying this before Dame asked out. Posters on here, including you were calling me out saying I can't prove this public talk is/would/will affect anything. I guess we now know that unfortunately I was correct. I apologize if this seems like a victory lap, it is not. And I am not admonishing you in any way. You are a fervent fan. But my God, this has been a scorched earth tour and I truly believe it is a situation where you can not put the toothpaste back in the tube.

As to compensation that Cronin wants, he is the GM of the Portland Trailblazers, not of the Damian Lillards. His sole focus should be maximizing the value of his assets, period. Another team will not make a trade they are not comfortable. Cronin will not have a gun to anyones head. Nor will Portland accept a deal they are not comfortable with. No one will have a gun to Cronin's head neither. Cronin will be committing professional malpractice if he gives one iota to the shape he leaves another team in at the end of a Dame trade or any other. I doubt Danny Ainge feels guilty for fleecing Minny. He did his job superbly and has probably earned an extension with a sizable raise. Cheers

We basically own those dudes for the next 8 years. They’re not going anywhere.

Jesus christ, don't say that kind of stuff bro.

Instead try something like, "With Sharpe a perennial All-Star, and Scoot the newest "it" Point Guard, Portland has the pick of the litter of bigs and wings clamoring to play in Portland!". **checks thread title** oh wait, never mind, carry on.

I've read enough of your posts to know you are not clueless BUT......

I have to admit this sounds a bit clueless.

People on this site hate hearing they are wrong. Never changes.
All the Tank for Wemby stuff is a different narrative now.

You think they're going to demand a trade in the next 7-8 years?

I think a lot of players are going to want to hit that 8 year mark so they can get the super max.

Is it 8 years with one team?

No team is giving multiple players a super max. Certainly not a team owned by Jody Allen.

Yes. I believe 8 is the minimum to be eligible for the 35% extension. 8 or 9.

We are talking 8 years away. Hopefully Jody won't even be here at that point. But if they're good enough to warrant a supermax, they're going to want to stick around to try to get it.

Isn't Tatum and Brown both on super max in Boston?
