If this team doesn't show some fire soon I may be shutting off the NBA for the season. Just when they seem to have a spark they drown it in water next game. I'm actually not enjoying much about the Blazers this season and now I'm feeling like it's really hard to put any sort of positive spin on the franchise until they are "built" and I'm not sure the sport is going to survive this chapter with me as a fan. That's my morning meltdown. I hate the way games are called this season. I'm not buying what Chauncey is selling nor are his players from what I can see.
I shifted from watching games again after 2 seasons of cancelling my League Pass to watching Scoot's highlights only since 10 games. The gritty team from early season was enjoyable despite losses. It is not anymore.
My problems arise when I start thinking about more trades and assets. It’s gonna get worse before better I’m afraid.
It should get worse. We aren't going to win now, so our win now players should be traded for win later assets. That's going to result in a lot of ugly losses like we had tonight. That being said SGA led the Thunder to a bunch of horrendous losses before they started to be competitive. Look at them now. We can't half ass a youth rebuild. We should just go all in on it. I say that because I feel like Scoot and Shae will be the best back court in the league at some point and that Toumani is going to be a helluva role player for a long time. I also think that if we can get a stretch 4 who does other things really well to play next to Deandre he's pretty much perfect to be the C of the future for our team. There are a handful of other guys who have potential off the bench. We need to fully commit to the youth rebuild and then let the cake bake.
while the Magic and Thunder are currently the 'tank to win' success stories, there are teams that tank away hopelessly for many many years. Weird stuff happens in the NBA, and tanking for rookies is in no way a fullproof plan. Sacramento got trapped in a god awful sucky basketball tank loop for what... 18 years? The Pacers, Kings, Rockets finally had enough b.s. and made trades to get better. While this is only year 3 of Blazer Tank, i do not see a Front Office that is motivated to bring in more talent... ever. The hope to organically grow a contending NBA team from ground up, may not become a long term solution.
Meltdown/Smeltdown! I didn’t expect winning this season. I expect/expected lottery times. So what’s their to meltdown about?
Tell me about it. I’m usually a meltdown regular, but it’s hard to meltdown watching the young guys trying to find their way.
Problem seems to arise when you watch the games and don't see any young guys "Finding Their Way". Then you read up a bit about this years draft and there really isn't much to be excited about.
