sure....he has played pt guard his whole life until he had the growth spurt after getting drafted...he identifies as a pt guard and says he'll take ETs role that way because he went from being drafted at 6'6 190lbs to 6'9 240 lbs....he put up some big numbers last few Knick games of the season when they let him run the offense...my question is if Trent Jr handles have improved enough to play some pt

No, we can’t. Hejonza had an assist/turnover ratio of 1 assist to 1 turnover last season. No player could be a playmaker with that number.

Turner’s was over 2 assists per turnover last season.

Iguodala had an assist/turnover ratio of 4.0 last season.

Iggy seems like hes got some attitude about not getting the buyout and being able to sign where he wanted, I would stay away from trading for him in case he has a tantrum due to not wanting to play for us.

Did he say he didn't want to play for us? Why are you inferring things that nobody has said? What does asking to be bought out have todo with not playing for 32 teams in the NBA? Geez ... some people are just !!!

There is indeed a strong case for Iggy. And I have to admit, I'm bias towards him because I haven't seen Baze play... Except in some meaningless highlights. The age factor seems to be the only thing against him ... And maybe his injury history.
But ... Is this the Kawhi scenario? Do you take a chance ... for a shot this year? Or do you keep building for a never ending tomorrow?

    Great song.

I think alot of stock is being put into the experience Iggy brings to the table. The vet leadership in the locker room of a guy who knows what it takes to go all the way with a team.

I think every team needs one of these. Worth sacrificing Baze for? I don't know, but right now we don't have a vet leader with championship experience on the roster.

Just it. They don't want salary back, I'm sure. They want picks.

What’s in it for Memphis to buy him out?

Name it. (And it HAS to be a trade, because if he gets bought out he's going STRAIGHT to the Lakers.)

It depends if anyone else offers anything good for him. Lakers won't - they can't afford him unless he's bought out. Warriors can't get him back. It would have to be some team like one of the Texas teams.

[Edit: I swear I hadn't seen this when I said the above. If Memphis wanted Tim Hardaway Jr. I'm sure it would already be done.]

They GOT him because they could take on salary. They also got a nice pick for taking him on. Presumably Golden State made that trade because Memphis was the only team that would take him on for a pick. So somehow I don't think they're going to turn around and find some team that Golden State couldn't find.

Different situation. Golden State did not want salary back. if Memphis can take back a salary from a team like Portland (along with a draft pick or some) then it opens up teams like Portland.

Are you saying that no team will give up something like a 2nd round pick to get Iguodala? Why would Memphis not do that trade if the alternative is to buy him out?

And if Memphis takes an equal salary back (like in a trade with Portland) they're in the same situation now except now they have a draft pick they didn't have before. They can buy out a player like Bazemore that nobody wants at his salary.

I could see Iggy returning to where it all started for him and ending his career in Philly..the east is a lot easier on an older vet than the west as far as the regular season grind...shorter flights, etc

That alone is worth it to me. That kind of leadership is huge, and he has proven he can make crucial defensive plays when they absolutely matter.
