I agree that Harris seems overrated. At the beginning of the season, everybody thought he had the MIP locked up, but he faded badly (or so it appeared to me) and I remember seeing that Carter was much more valuable to the Nets, despite the fact, as you say, that they installed a whole new offensive scheme (the one Calipari used with Rose in Memphis) to showcase Harris. I'm really not sold on him at all. Of course, he would almost certainly be an upgrade on Blake, but...

However, I'm also not sold on Bayless. I think his defense is overrated (he's pesty, but not to great noticeable effect), and I know his ability to play PG is. Both of them are primarily scorers.

Unfortunately, I think the only player Portland has that could be of real value to Memphis (that Portland could be willing to trade) is Przybilla. But he alone would not fetch the #2 pick. Bayless, Rudy and Batum have significantly less value to Memphis because three of their four best players play the 1, 2 and 3.

It's really hard for Portland to match up with Memphis in terms of a deal.

If Portland is going to get Harris, it would probably have to be a direct deal. Przybilla, Fernandez, Bayless, Webster/Outlaw and the #24 pick for Harris and a bad contract? New Jersey could then explore trading their own pick, the #24 and Przybilla to Memphis for the #2, perhaps.

Well maybe if they get Lebron we can look back and rationalize it as such. But IMO right now their chances of getting Lebron, and between "Jack" and "Diddly". :devilwink:

Memphis is NBA hell, playing in a city that doesn't care about its team. They're like Clippers East. Who wants to play in front of 3k fans a night?

Nobody. Mayo will be gone as soon as he can force his way out of that hell hole. He'll either demand a trade, leave to free agency, or force a sign-n-trade. Mayo prefers the spotlight and the closest they have to that in Memphis is the indoor bug zapper at the local Waffle House.

Wow, I really think most of you are overrating Harris. To me, Bayless could easily be as good as him in a year or two, and trading Aldridge for him would be ridiculous.

I like Harris.. but he is not worth Rudy, Bayless, TO/Webster #24 and Future 1st IMO.

Hmmm ... perhaps, but proven all-star level production (which Harris had this year) versus great potential isn't really a worthwhile comparison; it's far more likely Harris will continue to produce at a very high level than it is for Bayless to make leaps and bounds. If the cost to get Harris was giving up Bayless, picks and other bench players (Rudy, Travis and so forth) then I'd do the deal in hearbeat -- anything that doesn't require shedding Roy, Aldridge Greg and possibly Batum is worth the cost.
