Yes....to start, That just avoids the Tax for next season but still doesn't create enough room to sign Nurkic if he works out like we all hope. Lots of time between now and then but this is a very bloated payroll for what fans are getting out of it. There are plenty of players we all like but as a collective, they are within about 3 games of a #5 pick....so as 'fans', we are perhaps a little over-attached to talent producing at less than a mediocre level.

I think that could happen as well...so that begs the question, why sign him for that amount in the first place if it puts you in a place you have to give him away? Hopefully they can get a rookie contract or 1st round pick for him at the least.

if they would have just let him walk, there would have been zero chance to get anything of value for him. i like this way better.

Has anyone compiled a list for 4 year players out of college?

Seems NO likes players who are more NBA ready and contribute such as Dame and CJ.

If we are going to use one or more of the picks to draft, it seems NO needs to look for NBA ready players.
even if they are not the best player avalable.

I would hope they would complement our three core players or just strengthen the bench.

I am not sure he is trying to knock the ball out of the park with super stars., just strengthen the team over all.

I don't think us 'fans' were the issue.... NO is a little too attached to mediocre talent (Crabbe, Meyers, etc).

I don't like the idea of picking a less talented guy who's older (therefore, less room to grow) just because he's older. That won't happen.

I kind of feel sorry for Ilyasova. That's the fourth time he's been traded in just over a year. It's not like he sucks, but he sure does seem to get passed around like a freshman at a frat party.

Feb 16, 2016: Traded from DET to ORL
Jun 23, 2016: Traded from ORL to OKC
Nov 1, 2016: Traded from OKC to PHI
Feb 22, 2017: Traded from PHI to ATL

If you want to go back a little further, he was also traded from MIL to DET on Jun 11, 2015. That means he was traded five times in 20 months.

Who, Ilyasova? Are you counting the teams he played on in Europe?

ATL will be his 6th NBA team. He played for MIL for 7 full seasons (with a coupple years off in between to play in Spain), before his first trade.

Neil wins this deadline if he gets rid of Turner and Meyers for expiring contracts.

I lean to shedding some salary sooner rather than later because a lot of teams spent big last yr and more will this summer as well as giving out large contracts to existing players whose contracts are due. After this summer there is not going to be much room left as compared to last summer as the cap levels out
