I agree that BOS is our biggest roadblock to acquiring Butler. After that though, I think we have a semi-legit shot at him. I hope that CHI doesn't move him at the deadline, BOS does make a move at the deadline thus depleting their assets, and that CHI decides to blow it up on Draft Day when we have three or four picks - one of them being in the 5-8 range.

That Butler stuff is speculation as well, and even if it were true, I don't see how it would hurt his value. Even if he asked for a trade, there would be no reason for Chicago to settle. Same with George. They have no leverage, theyre under long term contracts. Probably why you don't usually see guys openly complain until they get closer to free agency.

He was the 3rd pick, he still has 3 cheap years left, he is only 20 years old and he sure as hell is more attractive than any young asset we have (unless you consider dame or cj available). Couple him with the best chance of getting the #1 pick, and we cant compete with that.

Pistons have really soured on Reggie.

I kind of don't blame them though.

Jeez talk about giving up nothing. Maybe if Orlando gave up a pick.

If that's what it takes for Jackson we should be offering E.T./Crabbe.

I wouldn't even trade Turner for him, maybe Crabbe to get out of that contract but Reggie's isn't a great value either. Jackson is a SG in a PG body who can't shoot as well as he should in that case.

Why would we want Reggie Jackson when we have C.J? I'd rather just keep Crabbe if we have to.

Jaylen Brown is like a lot of other high lottery picks drafted on their athletic ability and their hype coming out of HS.
But in the end their effectiveness in the NBA comes down to how much their outside shooting improves. The list is very long for players who never improved enough. Way too early to know about JB.

A SG in a PGs body sings like a good 6th man to me.

It'd be more so to trade him for an expiring contracts in the summer if that 3-guard rotation didn't work. We could get more value back for him than Turner, so if Detroit was willing to trade him for Turner then I don't see why not.

Anyway I can handle 2 years of Rondo if it gets us Butler.

How many times can you use the stretch provision? I don't want Rondo anywhere near our locker room, let alone on the court in a POR uniform. But, if we could waive him and spread the balance of his salary out over the next five years (like we did with Varejao), I'd do it if it got us Butler.

Still, I have to think CHI could, and will, get better offers for Butler.

Werent they are all on the Thunder at the same time at one point? Maybe not, but it just seems weird when you consider they all played for the Thunder at one point

I could handle cutting Rondo before he even boards the plane, if it gets us Butler. But no way do I want that guy anywhere near my team.

We need a 3rd scorer and a 6th man. Would always have a dynamite backcourt in the game at all times.

Butler, Mathews, Allen is the kind of player Lillard should be playing beside though.
