Miller has value, but it has dipped at the moment because of his age and his play of late .
He's been a top player for years though, and is a true professional, so I see him bouncing back farther into the season (new team & conditioning); where his value will have increased once again. (especially with the likelyhood of PG injuries around the league come that time of the season).

If his play doesn't pick up, Then he's no worse than Blake, and a good mentor for Bayless.

Re: ESPN insider: Blake most likely to be traded

And this from another sportswriter "Portland Trail Blazers shopping Steve Blake?
    By Mark J. Miller

Portland Trail Blazers guard Andre Miller(notes) has supposedly been on the trading block this season, but he's supposedly not on it right now because the team is offering up another guard to potential suitors, according to ESPN.
Two general managers supposedly told the paper that Steve Blake(notes) has been offered to them when they called asking for Miller. One thing that apparently bugs Blazers coach Nate McMillan is that he supposedly feels like he has to play Blake even when he's struggling because Brandon Roy(notes) likes to play with him rather than Miller. Blake doesn't make that much dough and has a contract that will end at year's end so he'd be more attractive in a trade than Miller.
The idea is supposedly to get Blake out of Portland so the Roy pressure is relieved and Miller has more room to gain confidence and playing time. Plus, the team would like to give Jerryd Bayless(notes) some more playing time, particularly since he's been vocal about his lack of time on the court.
Bayless hasn't reportedly asked for a trade but is planning to if things remain the same."

I'd love to see this place if BLANKY is traded for the trade exception, then is resigned this summer by the Blazers.

Well what I don't get is that "Trade Exemption" is free'd cap for the Heat when this summer roles around. I would think they would like that to be ready for their Bosh or LJ push.

I think Bayless' play of late has more to do with this than Blake's or Miller's. I hope at least we get to see Miller start about 5 games in a row to get time with the first unit.

Blake's contract is up so it is not like it hurts their chances of landing a FA. I suspect mission #1 for Miami is just to resign Wade.

Re: ESPN insider: Blake most likely to be traded

Blake to Miami for the TE would be my favorite deal.

I would then wait until they are back with the team and send Rudy and Travis to GS for Anthony Randolph.

    Miller/Bayless/Mills
    Roy/Bayless/Webster
    Batum/Randolph/Cunningham
    Aldridge/Randolph/Pendergraph
    Oden/Przybilla/Howard

Then I would look to get a coach that likes up tempo and be able to slide Aldridge to the 5 and run with

    Bayless/Roy/Batum/Randolph/Aldridge a lot next season.

Well to get a jump on offers. I know Blake's contract is up as well, but that doesn't get free'd up until after July 15th or something. With the exemption, it allows them to have it free'd immediately and able to try and get a deal done before anyone else.

They can renounce his rights on July 1st.... They can't sign anyone until after teh Moratorium anyway, but they can negotiate assuming the renouncement.

Definitly. From what I watched on NBATV the other night and the discussion there, Wade is definitly putting out feelers. They were talking about how this year he is stepping back just a little bit (taking more jumpers, less inside shots) to see if any of his team mates there will step up, because he is gauging whether he wants to stay there. He is trying to figure out if they have the pieces so that they can add a player or two and compete at the highest level again, and if the franchise will get him back to the promised land, or if he needs to go elsewhere.

Re: ESPN insider: Blake most likely to be traded

Just getting LJ or Bosh would be a HUGE advantage for them. From the rumor I read at the beginning of the season, I heard LJ, Wade and Beasly would be the tandem in 10-11 season. If that's true, then we are in some serious trouble. They are all very young.

If that happened we might as well sign Mike Tyson as our 15th man. Our best bet would be to send him out on the floor to end one's career so we would even have a chance!:tsktsk:

Blake is more likely to be traded, imho, simply because Blake is an attractive contract to trade this year, and Miller will be next year. So, if they really think that JB is the future at the 1, you trade Blake this year, consider making him a small offer next year as a F/A and shop Miller next year. In the meantime, you hope that Patty can hold the fort as a BU if you do not draft, trade or sign another PG.

Nelson doesn't like Randolph, for whatever reason. I think he would jump all over getting Rudy and Travis. Two players that would excel in his offense.

I for some reason understood Randolph as the centerpiece in the Amare trade, and them saying he was pretty much untouchable.. or was Monta the one int he Amare trade? maybe I'm mistaken here.

Re: ESPN insider: Blake most likely to be traded

IMO Nelson is old, less patient, and wants to win NOW and does not really want to develop players. Add his recent health issues and IMO he is one impatient man. If we could use that impatience to get a good piece then we should certainly at least try.

I don't think he really cares about winning now or later. I think he's more concerned about his paycheck, and getting fired means he gets paid, retiring doesn't. He's awful, and I don't think he really cares.

Re: ESPN insider: Blake most likely to be traded

Blake is the most likely to be traded partly because his contract expires, but also because this year he is our 5th best Guard behind Roy, Rudy, Bayless and yes Miller.
