Extremely triggered Kings fan "I'm a season ticket holder and I'm pissed, we've had Jimmer Fredette, Nick Suckass, and now Buddy Hield?!?"

Amidst all this frenzy I do not envy Buddy Hield. He could quietly develop into a decent player at New Orleans but now he will forever be the player Kings traded Cousins for, with unrealistic expectations and Kings fans' hate. This move will probably hurt his career too.

I understand that you are overexagerating to make a point but there is a huge difference between the offers SAC did and would have got and Kat. If (and I not saying that is a given) that the only other offer that SAC gave thought to was a Drummond and pick then I can actually see why they would pass on that. Andre doesn't make them a contender and if they don't win (which they won't) then he would just leave in due time. So unless you are taking him on to trade him then he gets you no closer then Cousins. The only thing SAC can pray to do is pick well (they will need to get rid of Vivek in that case) and get lucky that Buddy blows up. Calculated risk.

But I not going to disagree that SAC does things differently (and wrong imo) compared to other teams.

I hate Philly, Boston, and Golden State, all for different reasons.

Agreed. Stigma will last for a while. Eventually, though, it'll go away like it did for Turner.

Grant sounds like a disgusting corporate yes-man. If I was a Kings fan I would hate this guy.

And if Hield does blow up, he leaves, like Drummond. If you're banking on being a terrible franchise, there's no point to acquiring anyone, I guess. But it's a good thing for them to bank on, as they've made multiple terrible decisions to reach this point. It seems unlikely that that will change going forward.

The Kings fans on that forum that Strenuus linked do seem to hate him, in general. They also said that he changed his tune on Cousins earlier and now that he's being traded, he's killing Cousins.

No protections on the swap, yes. And, due to the same deal, the 76ers own the Kings' 2019 first-rounder--also unprotected.

A player doesn't leave when offered a max offer after their rookie deal. I think there has been exactly 1 example where a guy did in the history of the NBA. Don't put it past a terrible franchise like SAC offering that if he shows even just a little growth to average starter.

I not saying this is direction I would go. They suck. But I can see their point (at least a little). Unless they fold up shop this is really the only chance they have even if it is like a 1% chance.

They wish they would have been called? Isn't that the other gM's jobs to be proactive and make an offer. Next time don't low ball thinking you will get another chance.

The report I saw last night said they weren't returning calls either once they got the two offers they picked from NO (and someone else).

I think he has a different opinion than the majority and that opinion has to fall in line with that narrative. I don't think he is actually a corporate yes man, I think he spent years watching Cousins on and off the court and genuinely feels like the Kings are better going forward without his personality.

Look at what Isaiah Thomas is doing in Boston right now, and then ask yourself why Thomas and Cousins had records of 22-44(lockout) 28-44, and again 28-44 in their 3 years as team mates.

The Kings are like the NBA version of the 49ers.
