I think he meant "playing rotation". If so, he's right. If those guys are in the playing rotation, our bench will suck. If they are not in the playing rotation, then they are basically irrelevant.

My one year old can't do addition yet, so I cashed in his college fund and went to Vegas. What's your point?

I think for the first time, we saw KP being reactive instead of proactive. I think something went horribly wrong tonight in terms of projecting out the draft and we didn't have an answer to it, so we made some gut picks.

Hansbrough going in the lottery and Jrue Holiday dropping to 17 come to mind.

Why? Because the Blazers didn't draft Blair? A guy they passed twice on? What went so horribly wrong?

Easy. Frye and Randolph have proven they can play in the NBA. They aren't great, but they are known quantities. Bayless was a lottery pick and averaged 29 PPG in the summer league. Yeah, I know it was the summer league, but what has Mills, the 55th pick in a weak draft proven. Bayless put up better numbers as a freshman in the Pac10 than Mills did as a sophomore in the WCC.

There's a reason Pendergraph, Cunningham and Mills couldn't crack the 1st round in the weakest draft in a decade - they aren't very good.

I agree that it was possible their projections didn't go as they thought. But KP did say that he and his staff do 1000s of mock drafts, so I think they had an answer for everything.
It's just that Plan A probably did go as scheduled, and either Plan B, C or D was carried out. Of course, he'll say he got the players he wanted but I guess we'll never know.

I can understand people wanting to believe that Pendergraph and Mills might contribute.....but Cunningham? If you believe he is an NBA player, you really are drinking the kool-aid. He is undersized for PF, and unlike someone like Blair or Brockman doesn't compensate by being a monster rebounder. He doesn't have the quickness, shooting, or ball-handling ability to move to SF. In a fair competition, S Randolph beats him out for 12th man.

He actually has a pretty decent mid range game, but he doesn't blow you away really. He's just the ultimate tough hard working player that plays his hardest until the whistle blows.

I think we'll be okay. We're in a great situation to now greatly improve a 54 win team.

Why would I say something that I wasn't serious about?

And it's nothing like the Green/5 games prophecy. Bayless didn't lose any games for us last year. Mills isn't going to either if he has Bayless's insignificant role. I could see that Mills will have more trust from McMillan, which will possibly allow him more minutes. I suppose that could turn into more opportunities for Mills to put more of an imprint on next season than Bayless put on last season.

"General manager Kevin Pritchard said the team's draft choice at No. 22 -- Victor Claver -- will end up being stashed overseas next season, which frees an additional $950,000 in cap room."

Did this come from Canzano? If it did, no surprise there as it's absolutely 100% inaccurate. Claver will immediately count against our cap space to the tune of $1,012,900 - whether or not we stash him in Europe, whether or not he ever plays a minute for the Blazers. He will continue to count against our cap every summer until we renounce his rights. So, drafting him didn't free $950,000 in cap space, it reduces our cap space by over a million dollars.

I personally think he would have been available at 31 - which would have meant no cap hold.
