Re: kick ass brown nosin Blazer Article on the outside looking in for a decade and a half? it's not like the 2000 team wasn't one quarter from a championship or anything.
Re: kick ass brown nosin Blazer Article Exactly. That team would crush this team. We're getting back to being what we were used to being, playoff regulars, but we're not there yet.
Re: kick ass brown nosin Blazer Article Cool article. Portland has awesome fans in the most interesting places. rock on blazers!
Re: kick ass brown nosin Blazer Article I don't think so. This team has everything. I think we can win the title this year as well.
ESPN: portland title contender? http://myespn.go.com/blogs/truehoop/0-36-102/John-Hollinger---Portland---Thanksgiving.html hey if portland came through with 5%, a 10% chance doesn't sound that bad.
Re: ESPN: portland title contender? I've been saying the Blazers are a title contender for a long time, and most people around here have been poo-pooing the idea. I think they've got a good shot, I really do. I can't wait until they play the Lakers again, with a healthy Oden.
Love the 12-6 record, the progress of the team and the buzz - but we're not winning the title this year. If we do, it'll be a Hollywood script come to life. Barring anything disastrous, next year and beyond, the league is in trouble.
For the record, Hollinger's ratings have changed since Henry Abbot wrote this piece. We are no longer above 108 and other teams are above 104 on the rating scale. I do, however, think we are a good team with a legitimate chance to win the division.
It's interesting to me how many teams (at the time of this writing) have more difficult strengths of schedule than Portland. Have six teams really played tougher schedules than Portland? I guess we've got the Kings and Wolves twice each, but ... *shrug* Ed O.
The "strength of schedule" argument has one obvious flaw: Those teams would have won more games, and made the schedule "stronger", if we hadn't beaten them. The more you win, the weaker your schedule looks on a spreadsheet!
Right. To me, you have to judge the strength of schedule by first taking out the games played by said team.
