I wasn't a huge fan of "Thriller" (and am one of the few people who never bought it) but that "Off the Wall" album is great and I have it on my iPod.
It isn't even arguable with Mike, you can just look at Jackson and tell he is mental. The things he did to his body and the way he would conduct himself in public; he's in his own category. And all this over a period of years, not just one incident or accusation.
That's where I keep that embarrassing video I've been blackmailing you with. That reminds me, your next payment is due.
Embarrassing? Are you kidding me? I would do the same thing with you on that video live in front of every poster that posts here during the draft. Heck round two (where you get all twisted up and I come in from behind) I would put on cam show on the internet while twittering about it in between positions. Don't worry, you"ll get your monthly payment. That experiece was worth every penny. Will you burn me a copy of the video or should we just "i-pod" together?
Jason Ellis nailed it on his radio show today; Michael Jackson died a looooong time ago. The guy who died yesterday was just a child fucking junkie. I heard about his death while camping this week and me and all my friends couldn't believe it. Hes never been a guy I cared much about at all or paid attention to. Despite the fact that I was born in 1990 and when I started listening to music he was pretty much long gone from the music scene I still recognized that this guy was pretty much the undisputed most famous/popular/etc person in maybe the history of all entertainment. He was literally the undisputed king of pop for all time and I bet that even my perception of him isn't really fathoming just how big he was in his prime years. It does literally feel like a king has died and, like I said I was never really attached to him at all. Musically, you can't ignore just how huge he was. Jason Ellis also made a good point that while he is definitely the King of Pop, why is that a big deal? What has pop music provided us? Its a disposable, cheap form of music with no depth, meaning, etc. Its spawned Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, etc. is the world really a better place because of this? Did MJ really have any positive impact on the world? The Beatles were pop too but they had way more skill and meaning behind their music. Still, dude made Thriller, he was larger than life. As a person though, I dunno if the world is missing anything. I do feel bad for his kids though.
I was once on a flight from Stockholm to Milan with about 15 other people, one of them being model Linda Evangelista. She had a little middle-aged man servant toting her carry-ons who she didn't speak to and didn't seem to expect to be spoken to, no makeup, bluejeans and a plain white blouse. I'd seen her picture before and recognized her immediately but really had no idea. She was so tall, skinny, and striking, a cartooned woman couldn't have stood out more. During the flight if she did anything at all (like ordered a drink or reached forward for a magazine) every conversation on the flight stammered. The old Italian man seated across from me who I'd befriended just laughed and shook his head each time. After landing our plane's pod of people merged with other arriving masses on the trams headed into the airports main hub. I'll never forget how she was surrounded by guys 6" shorter then her standing a foot away or so looking her up and down with no shame. No one tried to start a conversation, she was the Mona Lisa to be admired like it or not. Her empty stare went over their heads as if this was the everyday norm. I've ran into a few celebs types over the years and I'm always struck by how weird and ultimately lonely it must be to be them. What a weird existence for billions of people to know who you are... everyone lighting up and staring at you where ever you go. From early on, this was MJ's life. though I've never owned an album of his, his music is entwined with some great memories. An epic food fight with Off the Wall blaring on a school bus after picking strawberrrys for $ all day one summer back in grade school reins supreme in terms of sheer joy. There was a particular night with a girl at a club for another. I always felt like something was off with him, but dude could really sing and thats a weakspot for me. As his popularity faded in the face of sordid allegations and his music (& King of Pop crap) wasn't being forced on us daily, I found myself enjoying his stuff a lot more... dude had a gift. He gave us music, the creeps, and memories... he also raised millions for charities. RIP STOMP
This is so sad. I was listening to a Michael JAckson song on YouTube when I looked at the comments 2 days ago and saw a RIP, so me and my bro turned it to CNN and wow... so sad. RIP my man. Definitely the King of Pop. You will be missed and remembered for your great music.
The pedophilia of MJ by far overshadows any of his other accomplishments. He was a sick joke of a person.
For those who want to call jackson a molester etc..Why was it the family was ONLY after money! Not jail, not help, MONEY! Wierd how that works...The dood had 39 Charities and RAISED millions and donated and I think actually cared unlike most human beings who dont give a shit about anything other than themselves. These selfish asses are the same ones who say if you tell your brother you love him your gay because a guy actually has feelings. RIP Michael, The stress overcame your life to young. You will forever be remembered.
ucatchtrout, you're not allowed to disrupt a thread in order to make a statement. I've moved your collection of jokes to a separate thread. Feel free to discuss Jackson all you want, seriously, in this thread and use the other thread for as many jokes as you like.
If you want to be an apologist for MJ go right ahead. Whatever money he donated was not enough to make up for the pedophilia or cover up the pedophilia.
Oh please, you wish! No, I'm talking about that video at the petting zoo. You know... the one where you thought "petting" meant it was okay to go to third base with the livestock. Then you got overzealous and went for the homerun but your bat was too short and you struck out with 3 different goats. I especially like the part where you ran away crying because they all kept saying you were "baa-d, baaa-d, baaaa-d"!
I've been scouring Youtube for MJ concert videos all day and came across this one. Man, Brit was such a hottie.
