I bet Sheed ends up in SA. And for one year they would be tough.

I'd love to see Sheed and Duncan on the same team (well, except when they play us). Both guys have taken a step back, especially Sheed. But Duncan's bug eyes and Sheed's giant mouth just need to be on the same team for at least one year.

Nazr Mohammed was a pretty major disappointment for them, as I recall.

    So was Rasho Nesterovic.

I just heard about this!!! Not very happy about it. This def makes SA better. A lot better.

Hmmm... what an idea about Bowen though. As much as I hate the guy, he would be good for our team.

Should we be afraid of the Spurs now?

With the addition of Jefferson, are they in our way to the Finals next season?

If we do nothing but add a rookie we should.

If the Spurs collectively stay healthy, I think they may be fighting with the Lakers next year for best record in the West. Realistically, I expect Manu and Duncan to miss time with injuries if the past is any indicator. I see them finishing #3 behind the the Lakers and Nuggs though.

    Heh.

The Spurs will be yet another year older. Simply adding Jefferson won't make them better than the maturing Blazers next season.

Re: Should we be afraid of the Spurs now?

It all depends on Manu Ginobili. With Jefferson, they are better than last year, although we can probably still compete. With Ginobili and Jefferson, they have added two 20 point + scorers back into the lineup with tremendous playoff experience. I don't see that being very good for the Blazers, or the rest of the west. There would be the extraneous stuff, like do any other dudes get old on San Antonio. It may or may not come to be.

    Thanks. :)

Serious? I mean, we crushed the Spurs last season, Duncan is an injury away from retirement. As well, Manu is injury-prone.

Meanwhile, the Blazers will be another step better than they were this season.

Jefferson is good, but I hesitate to call him that good.

Roy and Oden are an odd landing from being out for a significant time as well though.

On paper the Spurs are better than Portland right now.

Re: Should we be afraid of the Spurs now?

If we add Hinrich as our "move" then no I don't think we should be "afraid" of the Spurs, but they are still going to be a legitimate upper tier Western Conference team if they can stay and get healthy -- that team still needs Ginobli and Duncan to be at top form for them to be a true title contender, Jefferson just gives them a productive third or fourth option on the wing who will be a better upgrade than platooning Udoka and Bowen who are both pretty washed up at this point.

Re: Should we be afraid of the Spurs now?

Let's not forget the thumping the Spurs laid on the Blazers last season without Duncan or Manu. Tony Parker put on a clinic with our terrible road play.

While Duncan and Manu are getting up there in age, they still have plenty of young talent in Parker, Mason and Jefferson.

They passed us in the talent department with the RJ trade. It's up to KP to address that soon.

Perhaps. But, I still contend that there's something to be said for the (virtual) youngest team in the league - which won 54 games and tied for a division title - becoming another year more seasoned.

That's like saying Kobe Bryant is one sniper bullet away from a career ending injury..."Oh my god is that Idog1976 up on the water tower with a custom M-16?!"

There definitely is. I expect a huge leap from Oden and Bayless. Oden hadn't done squats in 2 years prior to 4 weeks ago does anyone get how huge that is? We have the best offensive rebound rate player in the league and his legs were barely sea worthy!

We should be respectful, be ready to play our best game. We should not be afraid of them, or anyone for that matter.
