I'll agree to that, that was a very entertaining scoreless half.

    Re: USA vs England

England always start slow in the World Cup (when they make it there...) Then they pick up enough steam to make it to the quarterfinals. Then they lose on penalties.
The US deserved a draw here - apart from the first goal, they were the better team in the first half. England was much better in the second but couldn't get hold of any of the crosses. And England is seriously shaky at the back without Ferdinand.

Green wishes he was dead now, and that's before tomorrow's papers in England...

    Re: USA vs England

The goal was lucky, but the US was also unlucky on the shot off the post. I thought the US played England pretty evenly overall, so I don't think the score was deceptive about the quality of the two teams in the game.

Generally, though, England is better than the US. But not far and away, anymore. England ain't Brazil or Spain. ;)

was anyone thinking that these two teams wouldn't be going on to the next round? Did any of that change today?

If Slovenia Beat Algeria convincingly, the US and England (on a smaller level) should be concerned

England owned the U.S., but the score was even. Like I said...U.S. aren't even close to England's level, but maybe one day :)

    Re: USA vs England

If we had the fantastic teamwork USA are gifted with we'd go on to great things. Sadly, we've always missed that little chemical Brazil seem to naturally possess. I still have faith, but it was a very mature performance by USA. Good that they didn't lose their head after going a goal down in a matter of minutes. Could of been an absolute rout.

Fun game to watch. I can't seem to find a link to find out where all the US team players play professionally. I know Donovan plays for the Galaxy, but do any of our players lay in Europe?

you're still saying dumb stuff like that?

the US is clearly a top 50 team in the world. they're clearly a top 25 team in the world.

    Re: USA vs England

the US teamwork was horrible in the back today. without howard bailing the defense out on several occasions the game could have gotten out of hand. gerrard and lampard had way too much space and the US let far too many guys dribble into the box unchallenged.

    Half way down the page:

4 US players play in MLS, the other 19 play in Europe.

The ref for the Germany game was a bit shite. Not as bad as '06 though.
